Tips To Finding A Sponsor?

Can someone give me tips on finding sponsors? Online & Offline

I need to be able to get 1 sponsor per week to print my newsletter.

I am thinking of charging $100.00 and printing 1,000 sheets.

Thank You

    Hi Jessie

Firstly, you need to get into the right mindset. You need to start thinking in terms of ROI (Return on Investment). Don't expect someone to sponsor you out of kindness. That may happen depending on what your Newsletter is about, but don't expect it to happen. Instead, you need to demonstrate to your prospects the benefits of sponsoring your publication.

So let's take a look at your proposal from the perspective of a prospective investor:

    Cost: $100
    Circulation: 1,000

That equates to 10 cents per impression (of your sponsor's ad) and I think that could be, potentially, quite a good proposition provided your audience is targeted (interested) in the products/services your sponsor is offering.

So think about your audience and what they are interested in; think about their goals and the products and services they regularly consume. Run your own ad (as a test) for a product or service you think your audience is interest in and get them to fill out a form to register their interest with you.

Then approach people who are providers of those products and services and show them the numbers. When you can demonstrate to your potential sponsors how you can hep them to make more sales, you will never be short of sponsors.

    And good luck with it.

    Will

    Online:

Make a .PDF document with the following things:
    - About your site
    - What do you need
    - Why you approach this sponsor
    - What will he get in return (benefits!)
    - The total costs for the sponsor
    - ROI, how much can he get back when he sponsors you

    Attach the following:
    - Make a full analyse of the site statistics
    - Contact details (not MSN or something! Telephone number / address details etc!)

    Hello!

First of all, you should let people know about what you are trying to do, and the sponsors may look foy you by themselves.

I work with sponsors and companies alot offline. You need to call their marketing department to let them know what program/activity you'll be organizing and how much exposure that would give them (or show their company in a favorable light).

If they're interested, you can discuss with them how many of a particular 'good' of theirs they are willing to sponsor and on what terms. Very few companies are willing to give you cash.

    My 2 cents.
