Amazon Side Bar Suggestions?

What do you put on the sidebar of your Amazon Niche Sites,

Right now I have two product suggestions, categories, and an adbrite ad. But what else can I do, I just don't like how it looks and I think it accounts for a lot of my bounce rate!

I add videos related to the niche as well as Shopzilla ads. I also add related products and subscription forms.

It sounds like your site is all sales and no content, try putting some quality engaging stuff in there to hold peoples attention. At the very least an autoplay video thats grabs the prospect and pulls them in, you can scale the video to fit. Or change theme so it will.

Adbrite has a poor CPC I wouldn't recommend putting that there as you could be earning pennies opposed to getting a sale.

    I put links to products.

To decrease your bounce rate, it would be a good idea to put a video in your sidebar. Also, using the YouTube sidebar plugin you can make it display a different video for each page the visitor is on your site.

I stay away from opt-in forms because the traffic I'm targeting is ready to buy NOW. They aren't interested in opting into anything and I don't want to do anything to interrupt their clicks on my affiliate links.

You NEED a good video review, above the fold. This will not only lower your bounce rate but will really help qualify your site in the eyes of the visitor.

I wouldn't recommend autoplay as mentioned earlier, I don't like visiting sites and having some video just coming on unannounced... imagine you're listening to some tunes, or worse, in work...

You should put a nice big call to action button under your video.

I also like to include price range buttons and recent reviews, comments etc...

An opt in is an option, as long as it doesn't take from your affilate links/buttons.... always good to catch emails.

I know I need to start captureing emails, but my big thing is, what can I offer from this page, other than trying to sell more headphones?

But won't more banners just hurt my bounce rate, I want the site to offer real info, not just spam and hope for CTR, right now my conversion rate is only like 4% and I need to figure out why!

From what i've heard, the bounce counts when someone clicks the back button on their browser, not when they go on an external link on your site. I don't know if that is true though. Someone here should confirm.

Do you mean the conversion rate which is shown on your Amazon stats? 4% isn't bad although it depends on many factors such as the niche, cost of the products, etc..

Have things like ads makes your site look ugly. Id remove the Adbrite ad and see if you get a better CTR to Amazon.

Cooler, I am willing to sacrifice the $0.18 I have earned for 1500 pageviews if it might increase CTR lol

      It's pretty good.

I don't think centering your text looks professional. It would look better being left aligned.

I would recommended trying buy now buttons in your reviews to see if it improves your CTR.

In the right sidebar, instead of having the posts under Recent Posts, you should have them under relevant categories to make the site look more organized i.e. "How-to Guides".

My CTR is Through The Roof (Yesterday it was like 25-30%) the problem is my conversion on amazon is terrible. As far as taking out recent posts, I have a catagories, it's just further down, I will rearrange

Have you considered using add to cart buttons on your site?

If you use Amazon's "add-to-cart" interface your reported conversion rate will be much higher than if you provide text, banner, or "widget" links to Amazon pages.
What is a good conversion rate for Amazon.com?

Okay, my big thing is I don't have the products to make videos with, do you recommend I embed videos from youtube and use them on my site?

Embedding YouTube videos is a good idea. Often the manufacture has a video of the product which looks very slick so that is good to have embedded next to your content.
