Are the Holidays a Good Time for Selling Info Products?

Hello all,

I have an e-book + audio program priced at $49.95 that I'll probably be ready to launch in about a month, but my concern is that people will be away from their computers and email as Thanksgiving rolls around. I don't really see this product as being presented as a gift (most info products generally aren't given as gifts, I would imagine).

Does anyone have any experience launching an info product during the period leading right into Thanksgiving?

Thanks!

Doron

It's never a bad time. Think of it this way...what do people do during the holidays? They take time off of work, which means they are home more, and most likely on the computer more than when they are working.

One thing is for sure, if you don't launch it no one will know about it and hence no one will buy it. That is absolutely true no matter your timing or worries about whatever you may be worrying about.

    Yep.

People typically buy more near the holidays.. Everything.

And Mark raises a good point; waht do you have to lose anyway?

You'll make sales anytime during the year. Launch it, and promote it as usual. Takes about 2 minutes for people to click on your "order now" link and buy your product. AND they get it instantly.

It doesn't matter when you sell your product. Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall. People search for stuff everyday. People open their emails and land on websites 365 days a year. Christmas will be a good time for Amazon affiliates because people spend money on gifts.

Certain products are seasonal. If you have a product that is targeted for a certain holiday, then it's best to start promoting it in advance if you are using free traffic methods, so that the search engine will find you to generate those sales. As one of my favorite marketers Nathan Salmon says "You want to be the eye of the storm".

I think selling an ebook or report is good anytime of the year! Yes some products can be seasonal, but there's always someone who wants to buy something lol! Good luck on your launch!

If your product is in the IM niche then it won't matter whether it's Christmas or not, people who buy stuff on IM buy it no matter when it is being sold. At least that's been my observation.

      Hey guys,

Man, I neglected to subscribe to this thread, so I'm just now seeing your responses, so please don't think I ignored y'all.

Anyhow, it seems pretty unanimous that I can launch this any time, holidays be damned.

Looking at my website (where a lot of the promotion for my product takes place, it appears that there is a big drop off during the days immediately surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas, but otherwise it is pretty similar.

OK, cool, well I really appreciate the insights, thanks!

I have found the only really slow period for most infoproducts is July/August - typically my best results are Sept-Dec and then later Jan-April - so looks like your timing is good.

We're doing a big launch early December. It seems to be split down the middle - Some people say refunds and chargebacks are really high during holidays, while others say it helps increase sales.

The best time for you is to take action and never wait so much time. This let you becomes slacker.

Just do what you want, I am sure you will make money.

You need affiliates or JVs to promote for you. If you have none, good luck.

Guys - Stop telling people to take action. That's useless advice. We're taking action. We're ready to launch. The sales materials, the funnels, the emails, the JVs, everything is lined up. We're trying to determine if it's better to wait until after New Years or launch despite being the Holidays.

Please don't respond with guesswork or rah-rah motivational speak. I'm curious from people who've actually launched stuff in December to know whether or not it affected sales.
