what Should a beginner like me do to start things up?

I purchased a domain and a hosting account a few months ago and i've been trying my best to get through it and so far my progress has been embarrassing to say the least.

Before I do anything again, I just wanted to ask, for a noob like me is it worth it to put down 100 or so dollars for things like design( logo, banner, themes etc)? I know in total it should be around that, its not that big of a money but i keep hearing people making huge bucks by simply purchasing a domain account and cheap hosting and this makes me doubt myslef. I'm recently trying to create my logo been stuck doing it for three days and it still looks so bad.

I am horrible with desings and have limited knowledge about computers in general, but i just get the feeling that i should know more about this.

If I were in your shoes, I would outsource this to the 'experts'. You'll find many on here who will build a simple site for you. At least that will get you up and running with some traffic etc. Look for a service with good feedback, they can assist with id a niche, content, seo etc if required for around the $100 mark.

I done a few sites like this initially, and found it useful. Your time may be spent better elsewhere learning, or taking action. Certainly, building a site was not for me.

Yes, I do feel like creating the site is not for me either. I have considered hiring someone to fix my site however the last person i talked to offered 800-1k and i dont think i want to put that much money on a site that i am not certain if it would work now.

I wouldnt suggest you spend any money if you dont need to. You definitely dont need to spend $100 on the site to get it going and many of the things can be outsourced to fiverr for a fraction of the price.

How are you planning on monetizing the site and what methods are you planning on using to build traffic to it.

You can start moving forward once you have those ironed out.

Tbh, I havent given marketing a thought yet. When I started off, I said to myslef that i would finish design first, then content then head to marketing. Now that outsourcing seems like a good idea, i might do that now. I've read all about SEO so i would most likely go that route. I have minimal knowledge about the "other" ways so i might look that up first before i make a decision.

What will your cash generation model be? Google Ads? Affiliate products? You haven't said anything that makes me feel the site needs a custom design and definitely nothing in the 1k range.

I am definely not going to put up a thousand dollars for my first site as it is way to risky. I Did say that i am willing to to put in a 100-200 dollars just so that i can get the site started. I would like to point out that my general knoweldge about computers is severely lacking and that is why i am considering letting someone fix the site for me.

I could be missing something, but you still havent explained how you plan on making money with this site? Thats the most important question here imho.

Are you selling a service, list building, reviews, affiliate promotions, adwords.....

You're not missing anything, its just that i have minimal to zero knowledge about making money on my site so i really dont know how to answer your questions exactly.

Thanks for the Helpful advises. I'll be checking some of your sigs to see if i get something out if it.

Not a problem. Decide on what your money making strategy will be first and then go from their. It makes all the difference.

If you are going to sell your services, then a more professional look will work. If you are selling adwords then a simple free design will suffice with ads in the right spots.

A newbie like you should first understand the bigger picture of internet marketing. First you need to create a plan. Without a plan the little details are useless. Decide on what niche you will focus your efforts on.

    The big three are:

    Health and fitness
    Money
    Relationships

And then there is everything else

Get familar with keyword research and market research.

The basic formula for internet marketing is...

    Traffic + Conversions = SALES

Do some research on traffic generation techniques. Pick the ones that appeal to you. Master the strategies.

Look up conversion in this forum. This will deal with building trust with your visitors, copywriting, building a subscribers list, and overall mastering the skill of influence. I will stop there so I do not overwhelm you...

You don't need to be an expert. As others here on the forum have said before - focus on your strengths and outsource the rest. By the way, if your website is Wordpress based, you can get beautiful themes, even for free.

Then to answer your question you definitely should outsource this work. You have already spent 3 days and I imagine 3 days or more is worth more then $100 bucks. The interesting part is even if you spent the whole week a expert would come in and do a way better job then any of us.

Yeah get a pro. There are so many talented people on this forum that you would be wise to employ them. There is some very cheap, very high quality work on here. It is was easier when you have the details down to outsource anything you don't feel like doing. They work and you focus on Traffic and conversions. Simple really. A side note. Look around and see samples.

You should consider hiring this out to others online. Try Fiverr, a freelance website site, or Warriors For Hire.

I'm also in the Health/Fitness niche. You don't need to have the absolute perfect design for a site when you start out. Good enough is good enough. When I started I paid an Indian guy on scriptlance about $40 to do a WP design. I put it up and started making some sales. Later, I paid a guy who came highly recommended about $160 to do another design; I put that one up and while I personally like the design better than the old one, it didn't really make any huge improvement in sales. So I think it's easy to overspend in this area.

Yes, i have met people that say that although design is important its not really what makes you money. so long as it is user friendly.

I will be outsourcing some of the work.

      Many thanks everyone.

Exactly. Let the design fit the target audience.

If you can't design its better you outsource it to someone that has the skills. You can go to Odesk.com, elance.com to find people with that skill to do it for you...

Try doing research around the forum to get to know everything there is to internet marketing. Good to know that you have a targeted niche to focus in. The main thing is to find out what your strengths are and focus your efforts on them. Logo designing may not be your cup of tea, try outsourcing the stuff that you may not be good at. You could certainly invest lesser for these outsourcing.

If need be, check the forum and find a good coach to give you direction on what needs to be done

No if I were you I would make sure I have a good understanding of what it takes to run an online business before spending money. You can always learn new strategies online not all courses are scams but doing your research is key and also you have to go with the vibe you get from the website that you want to join. If you have a feeling it's a bad one it probably is. Affilorama /or Wealthy Affiliate University are good places to get started and then once you have the knowledge from there you can start your own site.

Internet marketing is a very broad aspect. Well you can use other websites to hire a logo designer. You can also use free web hosting sites if you don't have enough budget to purchase one. But it is much convenient that you buy your own so that you have the freedom of using it.

Basically, Creating a website is really difficult for starters. I advise you to atleast browse and read articles that will surely help you on your problem. You can easily find new threads and post or even blogs in the internet that deals with your problem.

    Good luck! =)
