Turning Word Press Blog into Sales Page?

I've had a word press blog that has been idle for now, and I'll have a product ready for launch probably within a month.

I was wondering, since I need a website with a sale page to sell my product (ebook btw), can I just convert my wordpress blog into a sales page?

How would SEO come into play here? Thanks!

No, now one page sites are not liked by Google so you have to think of this.

Who cares about what Google thinks? If you are depending only on Google for traffic, you will eventually be very disappointed! Second, there are quite a few ways you can convert your WP site to a sales page and NOT have problems with Google.

Another option is optimize press which gives great versatility, I had a good look at premise but decided to go with OP. Depends on what you are willing to invest in your business as well.

    Hello.
I had the same problem a while ago. I found a wp-plugin that lets you hide a page so you dont need to turn the whole blog to one sells page.

It's not a big deal, one way is to edit the WP theme index.php file with the sales page html.

I second optimize press. It will give you all the bells and whistles to make a stunning graphic designed sales pages. You can still be active on your blog and reap the SEO efforts as well.

Sounds great, is optimize press something I need to download. One of those "plug ins" for wordpress correct?

    Lol,

It's like a 20min. job If you know basic html & already have the html for the squeeze page.

Don't forget that static html pages can co-exist with wordpress. You can always install your sales page into a folder and it will work alongside your wordpress installation.

Yes you can convert it...you can put it on www.youpage.com/salespage.htm if you want...then you can have more products in the future...

That is one of the options

    • I would definitely not convert the blog to a sales page. A couple options are to create a subpage on the blog that is the sales letter, and then have posts in the blog internally link to that.

Option 2 is to have the sales page on its own URL, and don't worry about trying to rank your sales page at all in Google, because Google does not likey one bit. So just have the blog point to the sales page as one of your traffic sources to your sales page. The key here is ONE of your traffic sources. Meaning you need several to appropriately drive traffic to your sales page.

Now your are not talking about wordpress.com right? Where you can create blogs for free. Because at wordpress.com you are disallowed from commercializing your blog, unless you count the WordAd service that they offer ( for that you need to buy a custom domain).

It's quite easy to turn your wordpress site into a sales page. However for maximum profit and to convert better.I would suggest you write related articles and give it a blog feel. But in every article, make a connection to your eBook.

@OP: Don't worry, it's not that much you have to learn. Perhaps you should start with the vocabulary so you won't be confused in the future when people start throwing terms like "salespage", "squeeze page", "landing page", etc. to you

If you have the cash I would go for a commercial solution because then you don't have to struggle with all the complicated stuff.

I learned all the stuff the "hard way" and it took me some time...
I'm short on money so I'll have to learn everything the hard way too... can u give me some tips as to how you did it? Just lurk through the forums and read books I assume?

I use 2 things for squeeze pages and sales pages. One is free and the other is paid.

The free one is WP Optins (which is a plugin) and the paid one is OptimizePress (which is a theme). Both of them are great in different ways. WP Optins is great if you want to get up a quick and to the point squeeze page or sales page, and OptimizePress is great for a more advanced squeeze page or sales page (graphics, powerful features, etc.).

You could always start off with a free (but quality) option like WP Optins, and if you want, upgrade to a more feature packed paid Wordpress sales page theme later.

You can also use Salespress Pro as a theme, which was released a few weeks ago as a WSO.
