a simple squeeze page question

Hey everyone, when your making a squeeze page and doing the usual things with it, does the url matter? Has anyone had any issues with conversions just because they had a url that wasn't related to the niche? Does the url make a difference? Do people even care about the url or look at it?

Thanks in advance

The URL is like the name of your store. Would you go to Petsmart for electronics? Your url name does matter. It can be keyword related or brand related but its not a good idea to make it related to a unrelated niche.

Personally I don't look at the URL when I opt in to a squeeze page. But I think it is important if you are thinking about branding. Just my quick thoughts.

Thats my point exactly I'm not trying to create a brand at this point, of course I agree that I woudn't go to a petsmart for electronics either. But thanks you somewhat answered my question, I was just trying to understand if people even bothered to look at the url of the squeeze/ optin page when they opted in. My url won't be way off like pets - electronics mentioned above but I would say somewhat a generic url if that even makes sense lol.

How would they know? It's possible someone might have non-simultaneously done sort of test, I suppose, but it seems a little far-fetched to me. I don't think I know anyone who would deliberately use a url that isn't related to the niche, unless they're branding it, or whatever. So I suspect it's a subject on which there isn't really going to be a plethora of "hard fact", and you just have people's own opinions, for the most part?

Yes; it can make a huge difference. It can even make the difference between looking like a professional and looking like someone who can't afford a new domain-name. Differences don't come much heavier-duty than that.

    Yes; some do, certainly.

I think it should be related or else someone is going to think the offer you are presenting is less valuable.

The URL will matter if you plan on SEO'ing your site in google for your selected KW...

Other than that it will just help to brand your squeeze page and the free product that you are giving away to your subs.

My opinion is that it DOES matter. I always look at the URL before clicking. If I don't like the look of it or if it showed something completely different I would think someone is trying to scam me and would just keep on going.

    Just my 2 cents

I can tell you that it does matter depending on how the traffic is getting to your squeeze page. I find with PPC and PPV it doesn't make much difference but traffic from youtube it does. I know most people rarely look at the actual domain once they are on your page. If you are not worried about SEO just buy a .info that's relevant.

What about sub domains for different individual products..or would it be better served in a directory system?

    product1.domain.com vs domain.com/product1/ ?

    Hi,
    Short links are better.

It depends upon where your traffic is coming from and
how people arrive at your squeeze page.

For example, if they click on a raw URL on an external
site, then the words in the URL may have an influence.

So, how big is the dis-connect between the offer on
your squeeze page and the words in the squeeze page
    URL?

    Dedicated to mutual success,

I used to have the most generic domain name and still got tons of opt-ins to my email newsletter. The site i used to have was: knowthings .net

I think people only look at the url if they are going to bookmark it and come back to it later. Which generally doesn't matter for CPA type offers. I generally use a generic domain like mydailynews.com/weightloss so you can add extensions to it. I never get a hit on the main domain so it shows most people don't look.

If you use some URL shortener, then the URL problem would be a small issue.

In my opinion, too long URL is not good.
