As a service buyer you can get some good deals there but you have to be careful. Make sure to check their bid histories as well. Never buy traffic, mailing lists or links from the lance sites.

If you are a service provider, I would definitely avoid it as the costs and the prices you will receive are substantially lower than you can get on other, more reputable sites.

    Just my two cents.

If you are buying articles, run them through Copyscape and also a free plagiarism detector. Be wary of gaf and use the escrow feature. Don't pay for garbage and make that perfectly clear before you hire anyone.

I've used it and have not had any problems. Used it for help with a coding issue. Have also used rent a coder. Seem about the same to me. I am not sure why Anomaly1974 is suggesting they are not reputable without explaining.

The caution to using them should be the same caution to using any service provider you have never met and know nothing about: check the references as best as possible (they have rating systems on all these sites) and use their escrow services.

I am saying that they are less than reputable because of the vast number of jobs listed there requesting sites to be "cloned", thousands of bogus email accounts, thousands of social bookmarking accounts and social networking accounts, traffic bots to fake site traffic (Including clicking on advertisements which costs many people here a lot of money) and many other black hat and often times illegal activities and then turning around and selling these bogus lists to people, guaranteeing them these same friends and charging people who may not pay close attention these email lists. If you read my full post, you will see that I did clarify that there are some bargains available there but many of the jobs posted there would get you quickly banned from many other freelance sites including rentacoder. Thus, I question their reputability and their concern about allowing blatantly illegal activities to be continually posted and fulfilled on their site.

Do I use them? For some purposes although not very much. If the site owners are not concerned about illegal activities, how much more can the people on the site be trusted? Rent A Coder bans such activities, as does Guru.com, E-Lance and many other (what I deem to be) more reputable freelance sites.

That would be my explanation, though I do know that there are many people who do not concern themselves as long as they do not get personally scammed. When these practices are allowed to occur, many people you know (Especially if you hang out here) are already being scammed, whether they know it or not. How many times have one of your ads been clicked on a cloned site set up only for income by adsense and used these "services"? It should at least make you wonder some.

    Just my two cents
