Do I 'initially' need more than a squeeze page?

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of creating a squeeze page, free couple of products (including a weekly newsletter) to give away on the squeeze page, FB and Twitter pages, and a few eBooks to sell.

Amongst this and all the other traffic generation techniques I'll be using I figure I'll be pushing all the traffic to my squeeze page. But, I've got quite a few ideas on further product development as well, and it just seems like the squeeze page isn't the best long term place to be sending all the traffic, even if the end goal is to ultimately sell to my list.

I'm not quite sure how to clarify it, but it feels like I need a "base" website, something that encapsulates all the products and programs I'm putting together. Am I on the right line of thinking here? Do I use perhaps FB or Twitter as my main pages perhaps? Or do I just bite the bullet and have a main page that's perhaps a blog or more of a sales page? (Having said that, atm I don't yet feel like I have the time to fully develop a blog.)

I know there's no one right way to do this, but I'm really just trying to make sure I don't go blasting off down the wrong path.
Any constructive input from those more experienced than me would be fantastic.

Cheers all,
Mark

It's a bit hard for me to answer without knowing what you are doing , but there is one thing I don't understand - why not have a website/blog? I mean, it's not that hard to make, you can outsource some of the work (graphics, etc) and this will be a long term asset that you would be able to monetize in the future. If you are able to do all those things that you've mentioned, then I'm sure you can make a website.
But I have one advice for you - focus! start a project and finish it. don't do everything at once.

Just set up the blog as soon as. Even if you haven't much time to put into it, making a start is better than doing nothing. One post a week is not too much to ask now is it? Even 2 posts a month is better than nothing. Your blog is a great place to build relationships and send subscribers for more information.

Listen, It's not necessary, but it is advisable. You will be connecting with your subscribers on FB (not yours) Twitter (not yours) Youtube (not yours) - When are your subs going to click on a link and actually end up on a website that you DO control? Do you not think it's important to reach them outside of an email message and on another site that you actually control?

    This, my friend.

Don't take your prospective customers to an FB or Twitter page. Bring them into your website or blog page. If you have other products or services to sell, you'll get them informed by driving them on your website.

WoooooW! Way too much to do there bud. I think your over thinking it a tee bit.

You started off well but then got lost in the wilderness....

Ok, just focus on setting up your squeeze page; auto-responder; newsletter sequence, free gifts.

Once you get past this stage then worry about traffic.

One step at a time dude. It won't hurt. Just like you said there is no wrong/right way to approach it. However, doesn't mean you can't be methodical about your approach.

One good Squeeze Page would do to collect your subscribers' email. Then, set up some followup emails at your Autoresponder. Your next important task is to consistently and persistently drive traffic to your Squeeze Page. Money is in your list.

Once you have a full repertoire of products to sell...a "catalog" like site would work...I know Jason Fladlien has one for all his products (and oh, there are many)...but I would not want to really worry about that right now if I am in your sneakers...

Right now I would stay on the "set up squeeze page and drive targeted traffic to it" mode...I actually think blogs are a waste of time [ducks as rock whizzes by head] for us marketers...think about it...you don't visit blogs every few days to see if there are new posts do you?

So where do you come back every day or every few days? Forums, facebook..maybe twitter? but...NOT BLOGS.

Maybe you do have a blog carousel that you visit every day and I am totally off base?

      My thoughts

      1. squeeze page as main email collection device. It will (all things being equal) convert better than a blog/facebook/etc
      2. Send all initial traffic to squeeze page to build list.
      3. Create a blog where you can add content, standing offers and specific sales posts. Primary function initially is to create your brand.
      4. Email direct affiliate offers and/or pre-sell using your blog - split test to find out what works best.
      5. If you offer any freebies to your list send them to your blog to get them. Get them used to going to your blog.
      6. Once set up focus on sending traffic to your squeeze page.
      7. Set up emails in auto responder to automate freebies/gee-ups/list warming stuff and even evergreen products.
      8. Broadcast emails for new products

definitely get a blog up and running. its not hard with wordpress.

with the squeeze page you can create a free report to build a list but also send people to a second squeeze page to sell something say a report for 10 dollars. this trains your people to buy and not always just want free stuff.

then make and upsell after they buy the cheap report as the backend is where the money is made and you are building a buyers list too

    hope this helps a bit

The squeeze page should be the first priority, then you can setup a blog to help promote your squeeze page, and you can use many other kinds of traffics to promote your squeeze page too.

here's what I do and advice you to do...

    1. create your own blog.

    2. setup your squeeze page in all sections of your blog including popup, exit popup, navigations, internal pages, etc.

    3. have a products page on your blog to display your main products

    4. your blog must focus mainly in building list as your squeeze pages are spread all around. I focus on having 4 squeeze pages to get started with on my blog so I have many things to give away.

    5. Build a list, follow up, build relationship and then sell your products.

You can use wordpress, do the above one time setup work and then all you have to do is just add content to your blog and this will build your list.

If you don't have time I have teamed up with developers in India who can get the above blog setup done for you for within $100 approx. and more based on your needs. This includes yearly hosting and domain name if at all you have not yet purchased it, it will save you some cash. If you wish to do it PM me and I will give you more details...

Register a domain that you will keep for a long time, ideally yourname.com

Have this as your central hub, and make it a blog, whatever the freebies that you're giving away will become content you can add, and this allows for your new list to interact with you and post comments.

It also gives you a central place to link all the social media back to, and gives you a reason to email the new list when you do want to share content or review a product rather than just sending pitch emails all the time.

Lastly it looks more professional if your squeezepage link is yourname.com/report should you want to try your hand at email marketing to generate traffic.

The key thing here is keep on taking action, don't spend ages building the blog and forget about traffic generation for the squeezepages.

Initially, have at least a squeeze page so that you can
build your list and maximize the conversion of visitors
      to subscribers.

Then expand your web presence by adding more content
on the web, e.g. to a blog, social media, etc.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

Yeah you can get going with just a squeeze page to drive traffic to and then follow-up with offers via email and you are up and running.

Would be a good idea to have a blog though, even if you do not use it for SEO traffic. But to send people on your email list to when you post product reviews, video tutorials etc. And then you can monetize the page surrounding that content on your blog with various offers rather than having to cram them all into the email body.

Just select a good product to give away. Even if it's small. There is no particular definition of good. But at least if it contains helpful and realistic information, you'll get some solid subscribers. At the beginning I gave away an ebook which was full with original writer's afflliate links. But I didn't have right to modify. But the ebook was to really good. The subscribers joined my list that time still buy from me. (Btw I'm sure most of them even don't know where the kept that ebook.) So, quality rules.

Amongst this and all the other traffic generation techniques I'll be using I figure I'll be pushing all the traffic to my squeeze page. No worries. Put a related and proper product at the backend of opt in. List building is more important than your own product. And you don't much need your own product to make money. Besides, what product will you make now if you don't have experience of selling online? Now, when you start earning commissions, your earning experience in a form of a pdf or a video will become a real quality product. So, in my opinion, start earning first. (Btw, this opinion is valid for IM and MOM niches.)

I'm not quite sure how to clarify it, but it feels like I need a "base" website, something that encapsulates all the products and programs I'm putting together. I like this idea. I do that too. For personal use, use one base domain name. If you need more, make subdomains to serve various purposes. Good hosting services give unlimited subdomains, emails, space etc. FB and twitter is not the best idea for base site. Because, you'll have to go through their terms in that case. They may also ban you if they want.

I know there's no one right way to do this, but I'm really just trying to make sure I don't go blasting off down the wrong path.

You don't need a website at all. Squeeze page, list, email to the list. That right there is a six-figure business model.
