This is really just basic business 101, but sometimes with all of the other fascinating things going on around us, we forget about the most basic fundamentals of things. Your "sphere of influence" is a term I like to use to describe the people that you know and that you are connected to on a personal level. For example: The people in your contact list on your mobile phone, your immediate family, your entire family, your friends and their families, your co-workers, their friends and families, etc. If you offer services or are promoting products -- these are the people that you should be in contact with first. Especially if you offer services such as web design, SEO, setting up auto-responders, article writing, blog creation, etc. Most likely, someone in your 'sphere of influence' will be in need one of these services. Remember, you can always outsource if you don't have any of the above skills. If you are promoting a product(s) as an affiliate... Most likely someone in your 'sphere of influence' will be interested in one of the products you are offering (or you can find one). I have landed some of my biggest deals from people within my sphere of influence -- from huge offline SEO jobs, to small $500 websites. For those of you saying to yourself "Duh! This is obvious stuff!" it's great that you know your basic business 101. For those of you who this helps... Your welcome! ![]() Best, Shane |

Ah, yes. In the olden days, this is how everybody got started in their new careers. A sphere of influence is something fragile and. like a balloon, it is easily popped if abused. |

You might not like what I say - but I believe it. Build it, make money, then build some more Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

Yes, it can be a career 'rocket launchpad' for so many people... Especially in the offline niche. There's bound to be a person who owns a business and needs help with their online marketing in the majority of peoples' spheres of influence. Best, Shane

Good post Shane. I would also call it, networking. I spent a number of years as a "loner" online, and did pretty good, but the biggest jump to my business was when I started to network, make contacts and, create my sphere |
