I just sent out my daily writing opportunities to my list.

However, somehow I didn't paste in the body of the mail properly, so all people received was a blank mail, with an unsubscribe link as the top line.

What do you think happened next?

      Oh not many, its just a small list of people who I send writing opportunities too that I am not interested in pursuing. I did have plans to monetize it eventually though. Oh well, never mind, I'll look on it as an exercise in pruning out the people that don't want to really be on it

      No idea yet, most of my list are still asleep at this time of day, I will know better tomorrow!

      I don't think it will be too bad actually, most people on the list are pretty responsive, and connected with me on social networking sites as well. They also know that I have been having major problems with message formatting using GWA Pro for a week or so, it keeps stripping out the HTML, so they will probably just laugh it off

    My psychic powers tell me that you are using AWeber.

    When I had this problem, I contacted support, and they told me I had inserted lots of blank lines in my email that were pushing the body of it down the page and making it look empty.

    When I pointed out that the unsubscribe line was at the top of the email and the body was simply not displaying, they said this was not possible and the problem was on my end.

    When we finally locked down the problem as something on their end, after extensive discussion, they deleted the entire support thread past the first response and edited that response to say this practice was against their terms of service and if I did not stop they would terminate my account.

    Now I use GetResponse.

      Actually no, I'm using GWA Pro, been thinking of switching to a hosted list manager for a while though, now that its growing by about 15 members a day. I only really started this list by accident, but I can see profit in it eventually so worth a few dollars a month to do it properly I guess.

      Actually, to my total amazement, only one person has unsubscribed so far. I will have a better idea of what the effect has been when the U.S.A. wakes up.

        I was trying to imagine what I would have done if I were on your list and received that email.

        I think I would have thought, Oh, he's going to release a really awesome writing opportunity that he only wants the most serious of writers to apply for. I not only would have not clicked the unsubscribe link, but would have my eyes glued to my inbox waiting for that great opportunity to arrive.

        But hey, that's just me.

          Ha! That's not a bad idea

          The lucky thing was that the title stuck, and it was pretty clear there was info on an opportunity for writing about green/renewable energy inside, so that probably saved me!
