Using paypal with an assumed name

Hi there _ I have a niche website that I want to offer payment via paypal on as well as cards.

However I manage the site with an assumed name/pseudonym for various reasons (all legit!)

However when I set up paypal - the payment always comes out to my real name (as that is what ultimately my bank funding is set up in).

I tried to upgrade to paypal business but they need proof and legal id of the new/pseudo name, which clearly I don't have.

Any ideas how I can round this?

Thanks

John

If you have a business paypal account, then customers should only see your business name, not your actual name.

You should be able to set up a completely separate business paypal account, which won't require the ID they're asking you for at the moment. You can do this under your real name since no one should see it. They will see whatever you have as your business name.

If it's a personal account then you have to use your own details. No way around.

If you upgrade to a business account then you can have the account show your business name.

I don't know how it is in the UK, but in the US you might be able to set up a "DBA" locally and then open a separate bank account under that name.

I don't know of any way you can show a "pen name" for a transaction. At best would be to just use a benign sound company name.

What they said above. If it is a business account you can use the business name but if it is a personal account then use your real name as if you do not you can actually get in trouble legally as it could be considered fraud even though you're legit.
