Anyone Work 1-2 hours A Day and Make $$$?

Hi,

I probably did what I define as "work" 30 minutes or
an hour a day for 10 years or longer.

I say define because I don't consider reading about business
or marketing as work. I doubt your significant other will agree
with this definition.

I'm planning an upcoming ezine on this topic so I'll give you
a bit of the preview:

In the beginning the problem you have is entropy which means
no momentum or forward motion. A body at rest tends to stay
at rest so you have to overcome entropy.

You have to learn how to get new customers. That is a media
source, a price point, an offer -- all scalable to a degree.

Once you get that, you have cash flow.

Cash flow = ability to hire help

Ability to hire help = relatively stress free days IF you have done
job one which is figure out who you're gonna sell to, what you're
gonna sell 'em, what the offer is, how you'll back end it --
because business IS selling.

No sales = no business

So you gotta overcome entropy.

A body in motion tends to say in motion.

That is law 2.

So once you have motion, you can hire employees in your country
of choice to help you maintain motion.

Employees aren't good entropy busters. That is why they're an
employee.

Now, the WORK comes when there are changes in the market.

Small changes = small tweaks to your sales process, offer or
back end.

Another small change can be adding or testing new media or
markets.

BIG changes are when there are fundamental shifts in the
industry. This is when you earn your stripes as an entrepreneur
because adjusting to changne...adapting is the only law of
survival.

That's what Darwin said.

It isn't the smartest or strongest that survive.

It's those that adapt.

Which is why we have cockroaches in more than one sense of
the word. The one thing they do is adapt, even if it's ugly, smelly
and gross.

Overcoming entropy requires doing something initally that doesn't
work.

Not working = pain.

Most people can't confront pain. They shirk it. Run from it.

Most people can't tolerate ambiguity.

Trying to overcome entropy initially = ambiguity

Therefore, most people keep jobs where there is less ambiguity and
proven paths worked out by managers or bosses to minimize
trying a lot of things that don't work as desired.

It took Edison 7 years on average to create one invention based on
his trial and error method. He had 1,000 employees conducting
thousands of experiments to find the one that worked.

That is roughly how you START something and overcome entropy.

You perform trials to find what works.

Or you buy the results of trials of others, assuming they accurately
represent the trials and results, assuming the data is still valid,
assuming that other environmental and market factors apply, which
they may or may not.

How I Personally Did It
================

When you have a smoking hot front end product bringing in really
good to great cash, that is the basis for a business.

In my case, my front end was bringing in $1000 to $10,000 a day
for many years.

At that point, you add products to an autoresponder, roll out new
items here and there, add a few big tickets and hire a customer
service person, which I did.

I also hired a webmaster to do the design, graphics, and some
product creation.

I had and still have a go to outsourcer for tech issues, although it
really hurt when he took a hiatus for a year or two.

To go beyond 1-2 million you usually need employees and a manager.
Mike Geary is the wacky exception to that. He does 10 million with 5
employees I think. Normally that size of biz would have many more
employees and 1 or 2 managers.

Once you've built up your list to a degree and have a sales process
and cash, you have FREEDOM.

I think of Connie Green who to this day STILL only has a list of 6,000
but sells off of awesome daily emails and teleseminars. And sells
a big ticket over the phone very personally.

That's a very healthy business. Not a lot outsourced though since
the emails and big ticket sales as well as her lead gen method are
all dependent on her efforts.

But she loves what she does.

I always ran my business as much as possible on systems so as
little as possible depended on me personally.

In the current environment, I have to write our sales letters, as the
market has gotten competitive enough that it requires another level
of sales copy.

So I spent the bulk of the last 2 days writing copy. Not real "work"
since I did it at Starbucks and the outdoor burger joint at the mall
with a glass of ice tea on a gorgeous day and more beautiful girls
than any guy can really take in.

But that is more than a 1 hour work day.

The other change is that competition for affiliates as a lead source
is fierce now.

So I'm making changes to our affiliate program.

What I'm saying is, your business can run on autopilot for many
years but in a highly competitive market, there comes a time when
you have to change your winning formula.

Now, yesterday I spoke to an ex guru friend who doesn't play the
role of guru anymore.

He sells training to people with very high discretionary income and
has 2 competitors. His list is over 100,000 off of very simple and
cheap paid ads.

Other people create the products.

That business will probably run on mostly autopilot for as long as
he is graced with life on this earth, unless the Internet itself undergoes
massive upheavals, which is always a possibility with what's going on
with mobile.

But his biz is as stable as it gets:

1. A proven media to get new customers at an affordable cost

2. Very little competition

3. Customers with money

4. Products customers are wiling to pay a premium for and not
nickel and dime you to death, and THEN file a chargeback over a
$7 item.

So THERE is the real formula for a stress-free, easy life and income.

If you can tolerate ambiguity, endure the pain of many unsuccessful
trials to find the one thing that works, if you can find a way to get
new customers, if you can make sales, if you can adjust ALL of the
above when the market has major changes, then you can enjoy a lifestyle
few people know and most only dream about.

It isn't always an easy trick to do.

But tricks are for kids.

And maybe magicians.
