Anyone Work 1-2 hours A Day and Make $$$?

With my current situation I think I'd only be able to work on my blog for a maximum amount of 2 hours on weekdays. All day weekends.

Anyone experience success working those kind of hours?

Isn't your avatar more suited to Plenty of Fish?

Seriously do you think you're gonna make money online by showing off your abs and crotch? (don't answer that).

I suspect that many people on this forum only manage to work 1-2 hours per day -- and they're probably not making any money.

I think what you mean to ask is: anyone working 1-2 hours a day AND making money?

1 hour a day seems far too short. With 2-3 hours a day, that would seem more reasonable. If it was me, I'd target local businesses and launch a bunch of highly targeted video marketing campaigns on youtube. Then I'd collect commissions on all sold jobs.

For an extra couple hours, you can target CL too. This is the fastest way I know to make good money. Which is why I don't do it 1-2 hours a day, I tend to do it from 8am in the morning up untill 8pm at night. But even on a small scale, it can make you good cash.

Absolutely. I have multiple 6+ figure income streams and some of them I even have less time to work on than that.

Given your schedule and that you want to do it by blogging, I'd suggest spending weekends for researching on the $ side as well as preparing blog posts in advance. Focus on 1-2 high quality blog posts to get published a week. During the week, spend your time on driving traffic and dealing with customer/visitor comments/inquiries.

Yes, I work two hours a day and make money.

    But...

When I first started I was working up to 10 hours a day going through my learning curve, finding out what worked and what didn't, and learning how to setup systems, and learning how to train and manage outsourcers.

Can someone make money by working only 2 hours a day and just by themselves?

Possibly, but I don't think they will make much money just because if it is just you, there is so much to do, so many tasks that will take that single person away from what they should be focusing on which is generating traffic and converting that traffic.

I earn a very good amount weekly, however I scale out to achieve this. If I didn't have the money to scale out I would carry out the tasks myself, which would result in more hours spent in work mode

I work less than two hours per day most days. Some people go over kill thinking the more they work, the more they will earn but I disagree.

I 'smart work'. But with most of my main actual businesses, once they are set-up I don't have to touch them again.

My website which sells my product hasn't been updated in over a year, but still pulls in four figures per month (five on a good month) on auto-pilot.

This is the key, when it comes down to it.

I do a lot of freelance writing work for WebFire (WebFire - Get Instant Free Exposure on Page 1 of Google) and Mobile Autoresponder (Mobile Autoresponder - #1 Web to Text and Short Code SMS Autoresponder), and I know for a fact that some of the people who use these systems are able to make a lot more money in a lot less time. Really, it's all about finding systems that you can put in place that will help you shorten the amount of time you are spending.

I think a more important question to ask is, are you the kind of person who is easily distracted, or are you the kind of person who is extremely focused?

Only you know the answer to that question.

If you are an extremely focused person, and can totally focus in those 2 hours, then you will be able to get a lot done in that time period, probably more than others who work for 4, 6, or even more hours.

But if you are the kind of person who is easily distracted, and you know deep down that you are the kind of person who checks facebook every 10 minutes, and browse's the web, or checks your email every little while, then you have to ask yourself, if you have those kind of habits, then how much of that 2 hours will be actual real work?

There's a quote I read somewhere that said people only really work 1-3 hours a day. The rest of the day is filled with wondering what you want to eat for lunch, procrastination, dinner, etc.

So if you dedicate to working really hard those 2 hours I'd say your doing just as much as someone who says they work 8 hours a day.

I work 14 hours a day in my day job and spend all my spare time on building my business and blog.

After finding a system that works for me, in just 4 days I already have a free product, good traffic amounts of traffic and people subscribing on my list..

Its all about finding a system that works for you and managing your time properly...

People sometimes tend to make things complicated and get distracted by so many other stuffs that they are not able to make any progress..

So to answer your question. Yes you can progress just by spending 1 to 2 hours a day,...

Good luck to you my friend..

Yes you can achieve your goals on two hours a day but it will take you a bit longer to get there. Thing about internet marketing is that the work is all front ended. You need to:

    1. Identify a viable group of People who have a common frustration, interest or like and are hungry for more and more information (commonly called niche selection)

    2. Build an email list by providing a solution(s) to any problems they face or valuable information they might find of interest

    3. Build an amazing relationship with that list (by providing top notch content and looking after their interests) so that they are eating out of your hand and actually look forward to reading your emails

    4. Promote offers and services to your group of people (either your own or others)

    5. Make sure you build the whole of the above so it works on autopilot

    6. Then just duplicate and do again

To do all that take effort and work. Good news is that once it is built there is your dream!

Michael it is possible to make money by only working part time. I know quite a few people that only work part time and are making a full time income or more.

The secret to making your business a success is make sure that you learn what you need to do to create that success and do it daily.

The biggest secret is to create a system that works and when you start to make money you invest at least 20% back into your business for advertising.

When it comes to creating a system the best thing to do is make sure that you outsource the parts that you really do not like doing the most.

I am not making a full time income yet, but I do make money every day. I never go to bed without at least earning something for the day. So it might take you a little while, but once it starts to work you will thank yourself for continuing at what you do.

I could work just 1-2 hours daily but IM for me in somewhat of an obsession. That 1 - 2 hours daily is more toward short term work, meaning stuff that affects me immediately whereas the time I spend after that is more for market research and setting up long term projects (the time after that first 2 hours could be anywhere from 1 hour to days on end).

I could work very minimally and get just that, the minimum, out of my business but i enjoy pushing a little more each day adapting and evolving to everything that comes. I seriously love what i do

    Hi there,

You certainly can make money working only 1 - 2 hours a day. However, all of us know that 1 - 2 hours isn't a lot of time. Be committed, instead of spending 1 - 2 hours on youtube, blog posts or facebook, you'll have to focus on doing what needs to be done within that limited amount of time.

I've wrote a thread on how I increase my productivity and quality of work working only 2 hours each day (It's 6 hours though, 4 hours play time - read the thread, you'll understand what I mean).

The more you managed, more you can work in less hours.

Mate, in my opinion yes. OF COURSE! Think about it - Each productive 2 hour day spent blogging are stepping stones, getting you where you want to be bringing you closer to your success and your ultimate dream. - By having said that you will need to have the right mind set!! These two hours Micheal need to be actually spending taking ACTION.

And I don't mean this loosely either. Doing something with the knowledge you have already is actually the key here! Choose a money making system online which works and is proven to work (must be something you enjoy doing - will make things easier) and go out there and put tasks in place which you MUST carry out before moving onto the next and the next !! Without these stepping stones your GOALS cannot be reached!

Let me put this into perspective a little for you...

Say your doing 2 hours a day for a full week that's a total of 14 hours all up... Which realistically when you break it down is all the time you would need to design a blog get some content all up and running + all outsourcing done + marketing strategy and sales funnel done + probably a few hours left over to do some back-linking.. On week 2 you may already have a site up and running, driving traffic and making money. You never know until you take action.

You have to start somewhere .. If this is something you really want then go for it mate! Take the initiative by taking the first step and don't stop until it's done, DONE and DUSTED! Then you can monetize and scale up!! However the most important thing here is taking the time out of your day to make the action happen.. Achieving your goals from then on will feel like a nice cold breeze!! NEVER give up!

Great post Micheal !! Lots will learn from this!

Well folks, I think there are very few people on the planet that make suffiecent money in 2 hours per day, but its not impossible.
But your first step is to learn how to do it. And here is the problem most people do not know how to make money online!
What do you think? How can you make money online?
Well first step find a product or services that you want to sell. How to find a good product?
Well see the salespage and how its done and would you buy it?
Finding the right product for you can take some time.
You can create your own product as well.
When you have a product you can start to sell it. Yes you have to sell it.
And this is the point where people fail. They don´t know how to sell or what to do to get targeted traffic to their offer.
    No traffic = no sales
    wrong traffic = no sales
    targeted traffic= sales
This is your first sale and when you have it you can scale this up, but the first sale is the most difficult.
Hope that will help you a little to your road to success

The primary work that I do is article marketing and updating my blogs. For that, that usually takes me about 2-4 hours to do (depending on how much content I'm writing).

However, if I'm working on new projects, then I'll end up working on average of about 7-9 hours on a given day.

That's one of the beauties of this business... work when you want, how long you want, wherever you want, and you can still make money.

That being said, I agree with comment above about working smarter not harder. This is why I never approach my day with a mindset of "I need to work X amount of time today", I approach it with a mindset of "I'm going to get this, this, and this done as EFFICIENTLY as possible".

Well I've been in similar 'hours' situation like you. I tried many methods, because my business was already up and running + not enough money for outsourcers. It was hard couple months, but in the same I was working only 2 hours per day + 10~ hours on weekend. If we calculate I was working 30 hours per week, that's nearly full-time isn't? Well I've had some problems with that 'schedule' but now I'm already back to 9-5 full time schedule! If you're serious about IM business, you should cut-down hangout times with friends, come back home SOBER, and maybe you'll find some time.

If you are absolutely new in IM, those couple hours you should spend for learning, not money making !

    Best of luck

Once you've got your foundation work in place 1-2 hours is fine... You need a system to follow (one that works)... be clear... be focused... be persistent... there is a lot of BS out there but work a tried and tested path that's worked for forum members rather than sales pages.

Make sure you connect with others, you need to bounce your road blocks off those that have been there and pulled through. Don't chase shiny objects.

But hell yes... you can earn great money at 2 hours per day over time.

      Hi,

I probably did what I define as "work" 30 minutes or
an hour a day for 10 years or longer.

I say define because I don't consider reading about business
or marketing as work. I doubt your significant other will agree
      with this definition.

I'm planning an upcoming ezine on this topic so I'll give you
      a bit of the preview:

In the beginning the problem you have is entropy which means
no momentum or forward motion. A body at rest tends to stay
at rest so you have to overcome entropy.

You have to learn how to get new customers. That is a media
source, a price point, an offer -- all scalable to a degree.

Once you get that, you have cash flow.

Cash flow = ability to hire help

Ability to hire help = relatively stress free days IF you have done
job one which is figure out who you're gonna sell to, what you're
gonna sell 'em, what the offer is, how you'll back end it --
      because business IS selling.

      No sales = no business

      So you gotta overcome entropy.

A body in motion tends to say in motion.

      That is law 2.

So once you have motion, you can hire employees in your country
of choice to help you maintain motion.

Employees aren't good entropy busters. That is why they're an
      employee.

Now, the WORK comes when there are changes in the market.

Small changes = small tweaks to your sales process, offer or
      back end.

Another small change can be adding or testing new media or
      markets.

BIG changes are when there are fundamental shifts in the
industry. This is when you earn your stripes as an entrepreneur
because adjusting to changne...adapting is the only law of
      survival.

      That's what Darwin said.

It isn't the smartest or strongest that survive.

      It's those that adapt.

Which is why we have cockroaches in more than one sense of
the word. The one thing they do is adapt, even if it's ugly, smelly
      and gross.

Overcoming entropy requires doing something initally that doesn't
      work.

      Not working = pain.

Most people can't confront pain. They shirk it. Run from it.

      Most people can't tolerate ambiguity.

Trying to overcome entropy initially = ambiguity

Therefore, most people keep jobs where there is less ambiguity and
proven paths worked out by managers or bosses to minimize
trying a lot of things that don't work as desired.

It took Edison 7 years on average to create one invention based on
his trial and error method. He had 1,000 employees conducting
thousands of experiments to find the one that worked.

That is roughly how you START something and overcome entropy.

You perform trials to find what works.

Or you buy the results of trials of others, assuming they accurately
represent the trials and results, assuming the data is still valid,
assuming that other environmental and market factors apply, which
      they may or may not.

      ================
      How I Personally Did It
      ================

When you have a smoking hot front end product bringing in really
good to great cash, that is the basis for a business.

In my case, my front end was bringing in $1000 to $10,000 a day
      for many years.

At that point, you add products to an autoresponder, roll out new
items here and there, add a few big tickets and hire a customer
      service person, which I did.

I also hired a webmaster to do the design, graphics, and some
      product creation.

I had and still have a go to outsourcer for tech issues, although it
really hurt when he took a hiatus for a year or two.

To go beyond 1-2 million you usually need employees and a manager.
Mike Geary is the wacky exception to that. He does 10 million with 5
employees I think. Normally that size of biz would have many more
employees and 1 or 2 managers.

Once you've built up your list to a degree and have a sales process
      and cash, you have FREEDOM.

I think of Connie Green who to this day STILL only has a list of 6,000
but sells off of awesome daily emails and teleseminars. And sells
a big ticket over the phone very personally.

That's a very healthy business. Not a lot outsourced though since
the emails and big ticket sales as well as her lead gen method are
      all dependent on her efforts.

But she loves what she does.

I always ran my business as much as possible on systems so as
little as possible depended on me personally.

In the current environment, I have to write our sales letters, as the
market has gotten competitive enough that it requires another level
      of sales copy.

So I spent the bulk of the last 2 days writing copy. Not real "work"
since I did it at Starbucks and the outdoor burger joint at the mall
with a glass of ice tea on a gorgeous day and more beautiful girls
than any guy can really take in.

But that is more than a 1 hour work day.

The other change is that competition for affiliates as a lead source
      is fierce now.

So I'm making changes to our affiliate program.

What I'm saying is, your business can run on autopilot for many
years but in a highly competitive market, there comes a time when
you have to change your winning formula.

Now, yesterday I spoke to an ex guru friend who doesn't play the
      role of guru anymore.

He sells training to people with very high discretionary income and
has 2 competitors. His list is over 100,000 off of very simple and
      cheap paid ads.

      Other people create the products.

That business will probably run on mostly autopilot for as long as
he is graced with life on this earth, unless the Internet itself undergoes
massive upheavals, which is always a possibility with what's going on
      with mobile.

But his biz is as stable as it gets:

      1. A proven media to get new customers at an affordable cost

      2. Very little competition

      3. Customers with money

      4. Products customers are wiling to pay a premium for and not
nickel and dime you to death, and THEN file a chargeback over a
      $7 item.

So THERE is the real formula for a stress-free, easy life and income.

If you can tolerate ambiguity, endure the pain of many unsuccessful
trials to find the one thing that works, if you can find a way to get
new customers, if you can make sales, if you can adjust ALL of the
above when the market has major changes, then you can enjoy a lifestyle
few people know and most only dream about.

It isn't always an easy trick to do.

      But tricks are for kids.

      And maybe magicians.

      Best wishes,

      Marlon Sanders

    Absolutely Doable!

It's always the case to put in a lot of hours in the beginning, then learn to create systems....hire outsourcers....

I fully plan on working a couple hours a day when we move to Italy, as I'm in the process of creating a complete Systems Manual for my business.

Ya gotta pay your dues first, then the payoff comes...

    Have a great weekend.

  • I wish people would stop trying to perpetuate the idea that if you work less, you can be successful--- or that everyone qualifies themselves to work 'smarter'.

That's like telling everyone to quit school so they can start a business because Bill Gates did. The numbers don't stack well in your favor.

Success requires work, that will never change.

I have two degrees, and I work more than full time hours to achieve success - and yes, I also work SMART. Because if you work full time hours EFFICIENTLY, you're blowing those people out of the water who are working EFFICIENTLY (smart) for only 1-2 hours a day.)

And, the richest people in the world have a job. They don't quit once they have 'struck it rich'.

    Here's the reality.

If you want to make a full time income with ANYTHING (whether it is working for yourself, or for someone else) you have to work full time hours.

The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

I would say at the biggning you have to put a lot of work to get where you want but as you have a long term business that is on autopilot and traffic comes in you can spend 1 -2 hours a day while making money this is definitely a possibility.

    • Anyone Work 1-2 hours A Day and Make $$$?
You have to define "work 1-2 hours a day"...

      - Do you mean to manage an EXISTING website that is ALREADY receiving traffic, making profits, etc? Then yes: you can manage it and expand it in 1 or 2 hours a day.

      - Or do you mean, in the other hand, to start a new project or even a new IM career from scratch, and become successful by working just 1 or 2 hours a day? Then... reality check: the answer is NO, it won't happen. This is a business, not a hobby, and you wont lift any business off the ground working a hour here and there whenever you have some spare time.

Most of the people that can get away with working only 1-2 hours a day either inherited a profitable business, or worked very hard to build a business that can be maintained with only 2 hours of work each day.

So, in other words you'd have to work your way up and build a passive income that doesn't need much maintenance.

It depend on your current status ,if you have a good setup and already incoming payment stream ,you can devote 2 hours only to monitor them

But if you are newbie you have to put enough hours to make a reliable payment stream.

It can definitely be done, but there are some factors that go into this:

1.) Your Infrastructure - If a person has a build responsive mailing list then this should be a problem or a large and responsive blog that is monetized correctly etc. That is just two examples...

2.) Your Budget - If you have a decent budget and you invest it wisely, you can build up your infrastructure and assets. You can build a big mailing list by buying solo ads, doing paid advertising etc. That can save you a ton of time and effort and let you bypass free advertising methods that can be quite time consuming.

3.) Your Mindset - You can have all of the assets and budget in the world, but if your mindset isn't right, it can all go to waste. You need to focus your efforts and not be running around looking at shiny objects and not taking action.

When I was working only two hours per day I was not making money. I was basically spending money with the hope to make money.

You have to work many hours organizing many things if you want to have the ability to work only a few hours and make a significant amount everyday.

it doesnt matter how many hours you work a day as long as you are doing things that are productive. I can easily sit and 'work' for 10 hours a day doing nonsense tasks that won't lead me to making any money. with that all said I do my IM stuff for about 3 hours a night and I'm making decent income.

After putting in 12+ hours days to set my systems in place, I only need to work 1-2 hours a week and I still earn money.

Now I'm putting those 12+ hour days into the other niches I'm really passionate about.
