Attn: Hosting Affiliates, what is your take?

I'm thinking about entering the webhosting affiliate game (shared hosting) but I'm not entirely sure what companies I should be focusing on.

I'd like to find out what the general consensus is regarding:

1. who the top 5-10 hosts are for affiliates
2. who has the best payment plans and why
3. who is completely missing the mark and should be avoided at all costs
4. how often should I expect to get paid and are there companies to avoid that don't pay accurately

Yeah....I have that box in the top right hand corner disabled

I did search google, but I am having a tough time getting a straight answer and am finding a lot of old information. It seems as though there are a lot of 'top 10' sites that are not legitimate just like the 'hosting review' sites that are clearly not honest in their reviews.

The search continues.
