Ad Swaps Getting out of Hand?

Hey you guys, I don't know if it is just me that is noticing this, but as of lately my inbox is getting bombarded with emails from guys and gals whom I never heard of before with offers that are just crazy.

I'm not the kind of person to opt-tin into any and every list that offers a freebie let alone from someone I never heard of. Now I could be wrong, but since the whole adswap thing has been going on my inbox is literally littered with JUNK. I mean title that go along the lines of "Your Commission Check Is Ready" to "You Have Money Waiting For You" something like that, and I feel that is utter bull and failed attempt at IM.

The only thing I can think that is the cause of this are guys/gals who do have my email address sending out email swaps to everyone and their Momma who can pay the fee.

I've been unsubscribing for weeks it seems like and there is no end to this. It got so bad I was forced to abandon to my long time kept email address of over 5 years which I loved dearly.

Has anyone been experiencing this as well or is it just me? There should be a line drawn or at least the the ones sending out should really monitor and review the emails the blast to their list because once I find the culprits I will have a bone to pick with them.

I don't even get emails from the guys who i actually want to hear from anymore, maybe I should start there?

Just venting!!

  • Hi Bryan,

I've been experiencing the same thing. My mail box is literally getting filled with junk. I feel ad swapping has gone way too far as well.

You should have an alternative e-mail for your internet marketing e-mails. It will always get flooded because of ad swaps.

The problem is a lot of people are not offering value. They are going straight for the hard sell. It's funny they expect you to buy for them just because. Just because what, we are stupid?

I've lately noticed an interesting trend. Whenever a big WSO launches, you will get 10-15 e-mails from different internet marketers promoting the WSO.

And the WSO owner is everyone's "buddy". It's more or less the same swipe. I have a feeling this is reaching tipping point.

It is diminishing the value of IM lists. You need to now really think outside the box and provide your list with real value not simply promoting WSOs and affiliate products.

People are getting smarter and are expecting more. So give it to them.

It's turning into the wild wild west!

I agree, but ad swaps are a part of this industry, and even through mailing, you would still need to opt-in to get emails from "random" people you've never heard before.

Even though I get bombarded with emails, just hitting the unsubscribe button usually puts a stop to it all.

I totally agree with you on that one. Some marketers I like hearing from because they do offer value with their emails; now its like they disappeared completely and the want to be's took their place with none sense and the same swipes. My inbox really never got out of control because I would unsubscribe once I got BS and that would take of things for me. now that is not the case, they just keep coming ans coming despite my attempts to remove my email. I just wish the original guys who I liked to hear from would have some kind lines that could not be crossed at least per-qualified the emails they send out for people and say "Hey this junk, I will NOT tarnish my email list for your offer".

When I start noticing spam I usually op-out of their list. (If it's low quality atleast)

I have a "burn" email (actually I have 2) that I use. ddxx01@gmail for any potential spammers.

I throw the addy in any form and just let the spam come. If I actually find someone worth subscribing to, I re-sub with an "intermediate burn" addy.

Nobody gets my best email except Paypal, my bank, accountant, etc.

The spam that has annoyed me lately is the insane comment spam. I have spammers from Russia mostly that will post on 30 or 40 pages, every day.

This is exactly why i don`t bother ever using ad swaps especially safe swaps because it`s just pure garbage

I spend a lot of time and effort building my lists so i don`t want to then constantly hammer my lists with other peoples free offers every day

I stopped doing ad swaps because I felt that sending the crap out to my lists was just burning them out. Now, I only send out product messages to my list when:

    1. I use the product myself.

    or

    2. I have personally reviewed the product in detail and feel it has significant value.

So no more "secret formulas', "blueprints" etc. Just real products with real reviews.

The proper way to do an ad-swap is to send an email to your list the same as you always do with the same name in the "from" field and then just give a link to whatever ad or opt-in page someone paid to send to your list.

What the OP describes about emails from people he's never heard of is not generally how smart marketers do ad-swaps, it sounds more like people who just got a hold of a whole list and are sending offers to it, which is definitely not advised if you're a marketer.

If you're getting emails from people you've never subscribed to, chances are either your email address got scraped from an open directory, or like J Bold said, someone else bought your email address from another marketer.
