Hey warriors. My current job is seasonal and I get laid off from November-March. This year I would like to use that time to build at least one successful niche website. When I say successful, I really mean making a dollar or two a day through adsense. This will be my first niche site so I am not expecting a whole lot.

Can anyone point me towards a good guide or ebook that will help me along in the process of building and monetizing my first niche site?

Much thanks in advance!

I don't know any specific guides for that in particular.

But I can tell you to go for high paying keywords to target. Go to the tool and find it.

If you can, create a curated site with quality content. They work very well with the new crazy google stuff.

    hope it was something.

Things haven't changed massively in terms of building sites (just be careful not to over optimize for a particular keyword). I've seen a few of the backlink service providers in the Warriors For Hire section post their recommendations on what to do since the Google updates this year.

There are a ton of posts in the SEO section discussing what to do/what not to do for backlinking. The only problem is that there is some conflicting advice - sometimes the best thing you can do is spend a few days reading all you can, create a plan for yourself, and just try it. You'll learn more from your own experience with niche sites than you ever could reading ebooks.

You will find everything you need to build a niche site in this forum - though if you want my opinion focus on a subject which you have an interest in. That way you will be able to stick with it much more.

And it would probably much more beneficial to you to build a list in something you're highly interested in or have a passion for. Repeat customers = freedom.

As far as making money with ad sense is concern, it begins with:

    1. Find a profitable niche, if you lack idea you can sign up for Niche a day or something similar and use Google keyword tool to determine if the niche has market.

    2. Find your keywords, preferably low competitive ones. Traffic Travis is my best bet here, for low competitive keywords i go for an average of PR3 competition. And optimize your web page with the keywords.

    3. I also consider the CPC and the amount of queries. From my experience, 4500+ global search with CPC of $1+ give me an average of $250 per keyword. If the monthly search is high and the CPC is less it's still viable and good to go, you can calculate from my findings.

    4. Create a site, not just any site but a high converting ad sense website with minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 ad blocks. WP is not my best option here, i prefer to use static page which gives me a great CTL.

    5. Build solid back links to your site non stop for 30 to 90days and see great improvement in your ad sense earnings. If you want to hire an SEO specialist, you gotta be sure of his work otherwise it could be a futile effort especially since the recent updates.

Content will be king, if you are writing your own content, write about what you know, or at least research it well beforehand.

Review types sites could work very well for you.

Don't forget videos. Turn your article to slide show presentation. Make sure to show your website domain on every single slide. Record it as a video and upload to youtube. Put a link in description too.

Interesting scriptracer, never would have thought about doing something like that. Tidbits like that are helpful.
