Suggestions for monetizing my websites

Hello Warriors,

I have been browsing the forums now for the past 2-3 months and have spent the last year or two learning a lot about designing my own quality Wordpress sites followed by both learning on and off page SEO methods.

I have had success ranking several keywords on the first page of Google but wanted to dive more into monetizing some of my websites. I signed up for clickbank a month ago and have had adsense for some time now but have not done much beyond running a couple of ads on site #2.

Here are the details on the 3 sites I have and each niche.. just curious if you folks will have some ideas on how I can start doing more to make passive income with these sites.

Site #1 - Basically it's about 1500 indexed pages of embedded Music Videos from Youtube all within specific metal genre's. I have received about 7500 visitors in the past 7 months and average about 30-50 visitors a day. This site has two adsense ads on the home page and has yielded me $10 since April.

Site #2 - This is a fitness site for people interested in both video games and fitness. Only gets about 5-10 visitors a day, some on-page SEO was done but I have not been very active with it in the past year. Currently not running any ads of any kind.

Site #3 - Personal blog I just started under my name, I am using a combination of social network referral traffic and traffic exchange to create high amounts of views and social proof while providing affiliate product reviews and useful free information to new visitors. From an hour~ a day of work this week I have managed to pull in 150-250 visitors every day this week since I started promoting it last Sunday.

    What you could do is sell ad spots directly to companies for a fixed monthly fee until your traffic increases, because the traffic you are generating at the moment will not produce good revenue from the likes of adsense

    I think for site 1 you can sell songs via amazon
    for site 2, I think you have to optimize it first
    for site 3, you can use it to build authority in your niche and build list, then you can use the list for launch days of your niche's products.

    Great question about monetization. While I certainly respect what Pronostick said, and yeah you need more traffic, I would say you can start to monetize whenever you want. Adsense is good if you don’t want to think about the whole thing. Relevant ads are shown to users with little effort on your part. For some monetizing early is a way to garner more income so they can start outsourcing the workload to others, while others might view ads as a way to detract more visitors. You have to figure out the best strategy for your websites.

    Speaking of strategies for blogs, I recently was reading this article about setting up a travel blog and found this pretty in depth article on seomoz.

    Sell the sites on flippa.

    Go back and check them out a month or 2 later and see what has been done to them.

    If they are successful look at what the new owners did and learn from that.

    If the sites are not successful, try to buy them back for less than you sold them for.
