Percentage effect of in-bound links on Google rank

Hi

Although Google's algorithm is a closely guarded secret it's fair to say that we could put the ranking variables into two general categories: on-page and off-page factors.

Off-page factors I take to mean primarily in-bound links.

Although you could un-pack both of those categories into endless e-books I have a simple question. Does anyone have a feel of the approximate percentage effect of inbound links on Google rank? Would you estimate 30%? 50%? 10%? Has anyone tested this?

Maybe 60-70%? Other factors may include on-page optimization, domain keywords, the page's current page rank, the content, etc.

It's totally impossible to get an accurate number especially when you compare 1 page to another, there's just so much variables.

Hi thanks for your answer. Yes I agree that it's not possible but I was looking for a general estimate or feel for this percentage. My guess is 50%!
