Hi,

Do you think it should be interesting for people to find lets say programming lessons online for free to watch? Like all step by step lessons buy with videos of a live person explaining it. The same way when you sit in a class and study.

It's already been done. Youtube is full of them.

One youtube channel in particular, thenewboston, has hundreds of videos that take you from total newbie to advanced programmer for just about every popular language there is.

Are you looking to make money by offering programming lessons? I know you said that you'd offer them for free, but I'm wondering if you have a plan to monetize the free into paid?

I know that there are a substantial amount of prospects looking for... programming training, online computer classes, programming classes, etc.

I haven't researched this market, or your competitors.

But even though there are other programming lessons available. If this is what you love to do, and teach, you can be successful. Especially if you learn how to market and generate traffic.

Let's not forget that there are a boat load of "internet marketing" training, videos, and content available as well. Don't shy away from your passion because it's competitive.

Take a look at what your competitors are doing and determine how you can be different. Maybe you can create classes for those of us who DIDN'T grow up using the internet (people over 40).

Maybe you can make it more interesting, more fun, or easier. There's plenty of ways to position yourself to grab a piece of this niche. Good luck!

The biggest problem for programming lessons is people revert to 'geek-speak' . Even the WordPress Codex does this. You get 8 sentences in English and then 1 that says something about permalinks and Htaccess.
Not a clear sentence like 'now update your permalinks-that will update the Htaccess file.'

Well, I am not sure about monetizing yet Glen Andrews, however, the main point is to make it local, as youtube is full of them, however there are no local ones for local languages and etc...

As it was mentioned, there are thousands of them on youtube so yes it would be helpful to have but if you are looking to monetize it may be difficult.

It is interesting to have programming lessons that are free to watch. Even if YouTube has plenty of those programming lesson videos sometimes, you just want to go to a site that can give you all the necessary lessons without researching or looking for them on YouTube.

Some people just want to see all the lessons listed or itemized on the homepage itself.

    Hey,

Keep it simple, avoid tech talk, be clear and concise and people will love your videos, no matter what they are about :0

    Hey Andy,

If you love programming and also marketing, then combine them. Find a way to teach or show people how they can use programming to make money. Here's an example.

A few years ago I saw a video about a guy who was launching something with Mike Filsaime, well-known marketing guy. The whole point of what they were doing was some product launch showing people how they could break into a competitive niche.

The competitive niche was photography. Ultra competitive, right? Well, the guy made a free report showing photography people/enthusiasts how they could make money. It was really a very easy thing that was not brilliant, but creative.

His free report included how to sell their photos on the popular paid-for sites like stock photog sites. But remember that he was marketing it to non-IM people. So he filled up his PDF with instructions on how to sign up to these sites and start submitting their photos. Easy, no-brainer for us but not for non-IM types, necessarily, who were maybe not well-versed in these things.

He grew a massive list in the photography niche. Done. His entry into a competitive niche. What appealed to them was making money from their hobby.

So, this holds many possibilities for you.

You can create tutorials for geeked out programmers on how to make useful plugins and market them. Give them a way to make money with what they know how to do.

There are probably lots of people who know how to program, but they don't know how to make money from it. Maybe they know about the freelance sites, etc. But that's different.

Create a course that teaches people enough to make WP themes and sell them. You also have to teach them how to market them.

Brainstorm all the possibly cool things that can be made from knowing how to program. And then show them how to make money from it.

Tie it into making money. Then you also give them a basic system or method to make money, etc.

You'll be able to do something unique.

    Just an ideer...

How would you monetize this? Would you record the videos and sell them later or something?
