Domian for the future

Hi Warriors.
I was just reading some reports and then I read about making a lot of money in the future by looking for the next great product,I was thinking about somthing like buying a domain for a future product [e.g iPhone6.com] and then selling this domain for a huge profit or just use it as a place to selll iphones.
Domain can cost about 10USD a year, and Apple usually realses a new iPhone every year so who ever owns this domain will be able to sell it or use it and then make a lot of money.
What do you think? is it a good idea?

Calls for some serious research on a specific product before commiting to buying a domain if you can find one.

Be careful about product names in the domains you are going to buy. Often you will be infringing on some companies' trademark. iPhone is certainly protected by Apple.

Yes, infringement is done all the time, but I for one don't want to set myself up for a costly lawsuit.

Is the name "iPhone" a trademark,YES! although as long as I provide service for Apple's costumers [for the better or worst] I can use the name,I can write 1 simple review about the product iPhone, and I should be just fine.

Chris, you will often find otherwise. Just because you can provide a service to a company's customers does not give you the right to use their trademark names in your domain name.

You will find dozens of posts on the WF where they got in trouble and had to give up their domain or drop it. Legal action was threatened and it is not cheap to go through that.

Why put the time and effort into something that will likely fail, simply because you are using a company's tradmark name without their permission?

Get a domain name that can be used with a file with the iphone product name in it and you will be good to go. Example: mysite .com/iphone5 or /iphone and then you can list all the iphones you want.

Can Apple sue? of course! if apple will sue I will be able to go to court, and of course that I wont,It takes time and money just to deal with it.and no I'm not an attorney but I do work with a few.

I'm no lawyer but I've dealt with this because I bought a domain with paypal in it and, well... you are wrong.

You could possibly do what you are saying but you could turn ZERO profit from any of it - otherwise its illegal.

You can't profit off the use of someone else's trademarks.

That includes selling the domain once you realize you made a worthless purchase.

          Here's the thread.

P.s. every trademark holder is required to defend their trademark when it comes to infringement so you can be certain a company like Apple will take swift action to stop what you are doing or let you accept the consequences.

    1. You can't get trademarked domains.

    2. If it weren't for 1 then I know enough emd domains to become rich in days

I know that usuing iPhone is a BAD BAD BAD idea just because apple registers trademarks on EVERYTHING and Apple likes to go to court. although after reading some I've seen that sevral courts tryed to deal with this, specificly domians:
You can use the trademark as a domain although the company CAN and WILL go to court[It wont be the first time],Other companies even went to court when someone spelled worng the domian but it sounds the same or usuing symbols [eg i(Phone).com]

You cant have symbols in domains... so wherever you heard that is a terrible resource.

Bottom line: you'd be an idiot to stack up on trademarked domains.

You can't have "dots" in a domain either...

And sex.com isn't for sale it's an adult pinterest clone.

The average domainer spends hundreds or even thousands on new registrations and years of renewals and does not make the total investment back. You will undoubtedly end up within that group if you try to profit from trademarked domains.

Also, read TOS, if you want to be an affiliate. Amazon will not allow you to use "Kindle" in your domain name, and may even strip you of any affiliate income if you do.

There is a recipe to get sued by Apple easily..
Try it, you may just end up getting sued and you may have to give up domain just for free.
