Articles To Ezines (Not article directories)

I posted this question in a thread but didn't get an answer:

Say I submit articles to an ezine.. do I need a full blown website for each product that I want to promote? Would a thourough review of the product be good enough? I know driving them straight to the merchant sales page is not good..

No - I never have that. I have "niche sites", not "product sites".

And almost no ezine is going to publish a "product article" (other than as a paid promotion), because they look "salesy" - though I'm guessing you didn't intend that, anyway?).

It's not what I'd want to try, at all, I have to say. My purpose in syndicating articles to ezines is to show the highly targeted visitors a content-rich site, to look like an authority, and to get their email addresses. Not to try to sell something straight away. (I do have some product reviews on some of my websites, but certainly not on the landing-page!).

No indeed ... that's no good at all.
