Ok, well most niches are extremely competitive and its not be easy to build inroads to it. So how do I solve this? Get in before everyone else. This is my strategy: Every day I follow all sorts of blogs, news sites, trend sites and more. Engadget, mashable, igizmodo, Google News, and various news wire feeds. I then weed through this information and find products, events, services, new technologies, brands, etc that have just launched. I then quickly register domain names around these niches. For example if a new Car company is announced called GrennWave, I would register domains like GreenwaveForum.com, GreenwaveBlog.com, etc. Be careful over possible copyright issues though. Next I will set up a forum, blog, or information site around these niches. Because you are one of the very first websites about this niche you will usually get great power from Google. Next I write articles about the niche and of course drop links to my forum or blog all over. You have such a head start on everyone else that it will be nearly impossible for them to surpass you in the Google Serps as long as you continue building backlinks. The great thing about Forums is that once you get slightly established it is nearly impossible for others to to come along and copy your forum. Forums feed off activity and since you are the only forum with activity related to this niche, and you rank high in Google from the start, competition usually will not be a problem. Since you now have your roots in the ground before the actual niche takes off, sit back and wait for the company to start selling their products, services, etc and you will grow along with that niche. I have done this several times, and have several forums/sold off several forums related to key niches, now extremely popular. These forums rank #1 for "the niches name" forum, and on the first page for just the name of the niche. In fact I just started a forum last week for a key new piece of internet technology that will likely grow to have tens of millions of users worldwide. This forum, even though only 10 days old is ranked #1 for "the niches name" Forum, and #3 when you search for the niche itself. Hope this inspires a few. |

Nice tips! I have used Yahoo Hot Search for this info but it is old news by the time i get to it. Is there one news feed you like more than others?
