Beside Elance, oDesk and bestjobsph, where can I find decent content writers for as little as $2 - $3 per article?

If you're looking for high quality articles by native speakers of English, you will have a hard time finding anyone at those rates. Unless someone is extremely fast, you are talking about less than minimum wage in most industrialized countries.

Why not offer to pay them in beans or rice, because at those rates that's just about all they'll be able to buy.

I have to agree with the above replies. I did article writing for about 2 years and I would never consider those rates and I would venture to say that any serious writer wouldn't either.

I used a service called Epic Write recently. Think they have a Warrior Forum thread. I was just after basic SEO content so was not fussy about it being a work of art, but they did a really good job considering the low price point.

Check around here in Warrior Forum. I'm also giving an article service here. I haven't seen rates anywhere as low as you're saying, but that's not to say they don't exist. I think the Yahoo! Contributor Network pays out about $3 per 400 word article. I've also seen people on Amazon Mechanical Turk asking asking for a 300-400 word article for $3.

OK, the price might be off, but I get the idea - you want to focus your effort on areas of your business where your time is more valuable. I've used odesk, Epic Write, and ... interns. If you live near a college, and are willing to share your knowledge with others, than having interns help you produce content is a great way to leverage your time. Of course, it has to be a win-win situation where your time is not devoted to teaching the interns, but I've found that it only helps me fine tune my business.

    Good luck!

You can try craigslist in the Philippines and India. There are many writers from the Philippines who can create or write quality articles for cheaper prices.

Don't think you will find a decent affordable content at that rate to be honest, yes you may find writers at that price but in most cases you will end up editing the content yourself and over time they will burn out.

Another site to look at is textbroker.com.

I think you will struggle to find decent article writers for those rates - decent article writers are worth a lot more and know it. You may be lucky to find someone starting out who you can pay that much to, but it won't be for long.

You can try Textbroker and IWriter for content, but they aren't that cheap.

Odesk is probably your best bet. I have seen other writing jobs on there that pay little and they always have applicants. You get what you pay for. Think about how long it would take a writer to research and write your article(s). Then think about what you are willing to pay them for that amount of time.

I advice placing ads in newspapers in India like 'Times of India', 'Mumbai Mirror' and link them to your site where you explain the article writing job and give them an article writing tutorial that they can follow. I do the same thing and get decent writers for $2...

    Hope this helps...

You will find writers at that price but it will be tough for them to be truly quality since you will have to look them through and check for mistakes.

Definitely give it a try but just know it will eventually be time consuming to keep up with editing the articles.

  • Many Warriors find the quality level from very low cost vendors varies wildly. You'll spend half your time finding new writers, letting them go as their quality inevitably suffers, and starting the cycle again. Your time is valuable.

I'm afraid I can't be of any assistance to you at all for several reasons. Your title of this thread uses "affordable" content writers and your question quoted above uses "decent" content writers combined with 2 or 3 dollars per article.

I'm afraid that combination doesn't exist.

Heck, my very first assignment when I was completely green in writing for IM'ers was at a rate at least seven to five times what you've quoted. Then, when I delivered the packages, I was scolded by my client and told never ever to charge that price for my writing again, as I was underselling myself.

I can't imagine any writer who has some degree of talent and skill ever charging that meager amount for any writing project.

Good luck on your quest though.

Fiverr actually has a few gigs with 2 articles for $5. I think they are 450 or 500 words each. They have rewriters and spinners too. There was one promoting 2 300 word EZA articles on the main page which had great feedback just today.

I must agree with what others are pointing out here. Quality is still something you should also consider besides "cheap" freelance work.

I have tried hiring writers for $2 per article and all I get are trash content that I can't use so I ended up re-hiring another writer.

So yes, you may want to consider quality writers and possibly get the best deal after.

You can get articles for $2 to $3 a pop. No denying that. HOWEVER, you will spend much more time editing and re-writing those articles, essentially turning them into a brand spanking new piece of content by the time you're done with it. Once you reach that point, you've not only wasted your money, but your time as well.

Sure, anyone can type words on a screen for a couple bucks. The problem is that many do not have the talent or "know how" to transform words into a compelling piece of readable and engaging content. That is what truly makes an article, isn't it?

Expecting "decent" articles at a price point like that is similar to rolling up to a McDonald's drive-thru with the expectations of a gourmet meal made from the finest ingredients.

My point - go ahead and purchase those $2 and $3 articles, but good luck trying to keep your visitors from clicking the back button as soon as they land on your site.

The way place is freelancer sites as you can have a lot of choice over there. Moreover you should make a long tern relation with the writers so that so can earn their trust. Many freelancer sites offer per hr work and a software to check it timely. These per hr jobs are very effective in giving the employer a better knowledge of his money.

    I use odesk too.
Usually, I like to work with fix prices and mostly, with people from the Philipines.
I start with one article order, then check it with copyscape, check the keyword density and so on if needed and afterwards I order more.
I have 2 writers that are writing 10K words per month and posting it to my website, for $100 per month. I just supply the keywords and check the content.
    Good luck

Hm, $2-3 is called the payment.

How does 125-187 words called the article sound?

That is doable. Of course, with a minimum order of $20 to secure the quality assurance of native English writers. You know, writers you could call on again and they'd still be in business tomorrow - and with more familiarity with your needs, add more value to your sites for a sustainable long term.

Or there is always taking the revolving door to the bottom thing.

Best of luck. (Hope you won't need it).

I second the others who said it's hard to get quality content at those rates. I started off at those rates, but eventually increased them. I've had many employers ask me to rewrite articles they purchased for those rates from other writers, and those articles were a real eyesore. If you want decent writers, pay more.

That's very very cheap... While you're searching you could write them yourself. If you're proficient in English.

Otherwise I know some who ask 5 $ per article for a typical A4 format page in Word.

Elance and other freelancer sites are out there in tons... and I guess 2-3 $ are so little that you might not be able to buy the best quality articles...
