Self-Printing Variable Data?

Hey Warriors,

I'm looking to print a bunch of direct response letters for a mailing I'll be sending out.

However, I'd like to do it myself instead of farming it out to a printing company.

Do you know if Word allows for something like this or another piece of software that will let me?

I can write something like this in PHP, but I'd rather not.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I believe that USPS online gives you the option to create simple Direct Mail Responses online. As I did a send-out of postcards last month I mixed the data directly online with the word file I had offline. You can find more information here at

If I follow what you're asking you can do this vai a mail merge process. In Work look under tools/letters and mailings/mail merge. Plenty of help in the help files and online. You can use a variety of other programs to supply the variables. I typically use Excel for not only standard things like name/address/etc - but also I'll add personalized information too if I know it - usually stuff from my notes on the individual users (birthdays, something from our last meeting, kids names, etc.), anything to add more personalization to the letter. You can then print them out and do the same for envelopes. Just takes some time.

    Good luck.

ps. OoO (Open Office) will do this too in case you do not have Word/excel. No need to program stuff, but if you're willing to spend some money and have simple needs I've used a program called World Merge as well. Don't even know if they still sell it, but it was only 49$ 10 years ago. Plus I'm sure you can find other programs already written - check sourceforge out first.

There is another option you could consider and that is sendoutcards the reason I suggest this is that you can upload your contact lists and then send out personalised card, two or 3 fold and you can have them printed with your own handwriting including your signature.

sendoutcards also provide the ability to send out a mailing campaign, I have not used it myself yet but have set is up to send cards on my customers birthdays.

If you send me your name and full postal address, I will send a sample card card to you, so you can see the quality
