How Many of You Are Getting These Requests?

Are you getting letters begging you to remove links from your site?

How funny is it that many of them are from people who spammed the hell out of you and now want you to spend your time and effort removing their trash because it hurts them?

I'm getting an ever increasing amount of these...

I've been getting a fair few of these too. Should send them to an optin page and just start spamming them with P*rn affiliate links and Viagra.

Give them a taste of there own sour medicine.

Tell them you'd be happy to remove them but there's a charge involved.

I've seen a few and ignore them. Absolutely not worth my time to address the issue.

I thought it was just me lol. I have had a ton of these requests recently and one of them was even threatening in it's tone. Yeah I just ignore these emails and delete them as soon as they hit my inbox.

I'm confused. What exactly is the letter telling you to do?

They spam their links and them want you to remove them?

    Why?

      Exactly Will!

What i've had on a number of occasions has been the webmaster/s contacting me and saying they have received an unnatural link notice from Google and one of the sites that is causing the problem is my site, so can I please remove the links for them (something along those lines anyway). This could have only have been due to their own link spamming and now they want me to rectify it for them.

That's been my experience anyway and it's recently been getting worse i.e in the number of these requests i've received. Anyway I have a simple solution to this which is to press the delete button which sends it to my trash lol.

That's funny. What a bunch of douche bags. If I got a letter like that I would go back to my site and add yet another link to their site.

Well that's another solution I guess, why didn't I think of that lol. Seriously though, It's been really irritating recently as i've been receiving more and more of these requests and one of them was even threatening in it's tone.

I hope the volume of these emails will come down soon but i'm not holding my breath!

@ admin - but one of the banners that regularly appears at the top of this site is for a spam link removal service. The very service that is sending out those letters?

Sorry Carol, but that's not the letters that i've been receiving although I can't speak for others. The webmasters have been sending these letters to me complaining that Google has penalised their site/s for unnatural links and therefore please can I remove it for them.

Just to be clear here, the problem has been caused by the webmaster/s themselves spamming their links to try and game the algorithm to get an SEO advantage. Google penalised many of these sites and after being told by google which sites are causing the unnatural link patterns it shows my site as one of them, so they contacted me to ask me to remove them.

Like I said I delete these requests straight away but have been getting more and more of these emails.

      I hope that explains it.

Joel, I think you missed my point. That service that has been advertised here just finds out where the links have been left. I think you have to send the letters.

My point was that I find a little ironic (no offence intended here) that Allen is prepared to take money from someone promoting the very type of service he is complaining about

Hi Carol, sorry yes I see what you mean for sure in relation to why is Admin approving such a banner and then complaining about receiving emails from similar services. My own experience has thus far (at least I think so, i'll have to recheck now lol) involved receiving emails from the webmasters themselves but i'm sure i'm likely to get many now from the kind of service advertising here.

          Fair point Carol.
