Expired domain traffic.

Has anyone had any success with expired domain traffic?

The only problem I see with it is that the traffic isn't targeted, but perhaps with volume the statistic would increase. I'm not talking about any particular ad clicks or niche sales, more subscribers and return visitors.

If anyone knows any good sellers of expired domain traffic, please let me know, I'm interested to give it a try,

Also, to hear any success/fail stories would be good too.

Thanks!

Expired domain names are good in sense that it might you some [only some] Domain Age Authority..... such domain names might get immediate or quick "Page Rank" or "Link Popularity" ..... means your domain might not have to start from zero. It might get some age authority as it was registered 1 year, 2 or more years ago.

But there are few things one need to consider.

Nature of Content on previous site... was that content helpful or harmful to the site?

Backlinks Quality............ what type of backlinks were built over the period of time... were they quality backlinks or spammy backlinks?

Google's relation with the domain name........ was the domain in good terms of Google or has it violated Google's Guidelines such as creating spammy links etc.

These are few of the things one really need to consider before buying expired domain name...

To address just one of those points... when you say "the traffic isn't targeted", that's only partially true. I've personally never used expired domain names as a direct form of traffic, but I know a number of big name companies (who sell traffic) utilize expired domains for either targeted or general traffic.

Let me explain with a quick example. Hypothetically speaking, say the domain "soccer.com" was expired and a traffic company snapped it up.

You run a website called "soccergear.com", and you sell soccer stuff. Say you had bought "targeted" traffic from said traffic provider and they are utilizing there network of expired domains to send you traffic. Now this is a poor example, but if someone wanted soccer stuff, and they googled "soccer", even though "soccer.com" would probably pop up immediately, lets assume it didn't. If the user just types in "soccer.com", they would hit a parked domain, but because you have set up a deal with the traffic company, they could either directly forward traffic from that website directly to yours, or they could offer ads to your site on the parked domain. See how this would be extremely targeted traffic?

Now an example of UN-targeted would be the domain name "123456789.com". Off the top of your head, what industry do you think that domain relates to? Exactly. No one knows. So if traffic from that site was redirected to your soccer gear website, then it would be almost worthless, just netting you page views with an extremely low possibility of conversation because the user that typed in "123456789.com" wasn't looking for soccer stuff.

    My $.02.

I fell for this 'scam' when I first started, set up a squeeze page with one banner and had 30,000 'targetted' to my niche expired domain traffic, not one sign up and only one click on the banner, just pay a mate 50 bucks to visit your site, easier and takes less time lol

Note: this was another business sending me the traffic, I dont even know it was what was advertised, probably fake hits.

I'm thinking you just picked the wrong seller to buy the traffic from.

I would not "trust sellers of traffic". What I would rather do is buy the expired domains with natural organic traffic - put up a page on the domain and direct the traffic to your website.

You could use SEMRush to check how much organic traffic a domain has and buy a good expired domain from any of the various domain registrars that have auctions

You have to focus on niche relevance.

I wouldn't be surprised if GOOGLE will have some NASTY surprises for people who use dropped domains for PBNs in the future.

Without target traffic the chances if you making sells on a highly targeted or niche item is rare. However it could be useful for very general sells items (such as netflix for example everyone wants entertainment) or trying to start a viral campaign on a topic of interests that was very general and doesn't require a specific relevant niche, like a shocking viral video or picture

  • This type of traffic can be very qualified..

You just need to find the right domains to buy..

Check the PR Rank, domain authority and other important information, to buy high-quality domains.

You have to choose carefully, I prefer using pop under traffic if possible.

Isn't the conversion rate for that kind of traffic normally sub-standard?

Wouldn't inbound traffic be a better choice?

I use to do this years ago. Google started clamping down more an more. Sadly, it is not a viable strategy any more. Also, I use to tell people that I had on my site many FREE images. They could use em. Please link back to me. Well, to make a long story short, Google says that was not allowed any more. It will make their algorithm mess up. I could still give away my images. However, I could not ask for any links, what a nasty company.

Expired domain traffic brokers offer this traffic for sale to Website owners who are eager to get a lot of visitors to their site in a hurry and who can’t be bothered to try to attract visitors the old-fashioned way – by using proper search engine optimization techniques or creating rich, meaningful content. Expired domain traffic is a shortcut, and it’s a shortcut that doesn’t work.

Expired traffic is not usually all that related to your website so the traffic you gain will likely bounce pretty quickly which could hurt your rankings in the long run and also probably won't result in any extra sales or ad clicks.

If you are looking to make use of traffic from dropped domains you are probably better off looking for some domains in your niche and buying / renting them so you are at least getting very related traffic as opposed to general traffic.

I can't remember what the name of the program was, but there was some company awhile ago that was reselling expired domain traffic at an absolute premium price. I guess I could do a Google search to find out what it was, but I honestly can't be bothered by that lol.

From what I can gather, other than the jacked up price the claims were sky high and I really can't see how it was possible they could live up to their claims. I can't imagine traffic that is more untargeted than that kind.
