Why is it so hard? You're making it hard.

I see a lot of people trying so many shortcuts and ways to work around the rules for sites to try to earn a living online. It just doesn't make sense.

I put up new sites all the time and get tens/hundreds of thousands of visitors in the first month just by giving people what they want. Sites I put a lot of effort into (2+ hours/day) easily get hundreds of thousands to millions of visitors a month.

There's hundreds of millions of people online at any given time. What's so hard about creating a good site with good content that people actually want to visit?

B/c of the chicken vs. egg problem. You need content as a reason to attract traffic, but you need readers in order to know what they are struggling with. How much work have you done to build your email list readership?

Personally, I would have said you need content to attract traffic and you need market research in order to know what they are struggling with.

10s of visitors in the first month is nothing to write home about. Hundreds neither for that matter.

Not true. It's easy to see what attracts users by visiting sites that are already popular and figuring out what makes them popular. Then it's just a matter of branching off that.

That was a typo. I think it was about 3:20am this morning when I wrote that. I meant to say tens/hundreds of thousands of visitors in the first month.

Many people fail because they miss out on taking the proper steps to build the freakin site. I Got a buddy I am helping with right now that only does half of the things required to start getting your site online and he easily gets unmotivated to continue because he does not see the traffic coming in yet. If people just know and apply the simple steps to get started, than we would not have as many people complaining how hard it maybe to get traffic.

I agree with this. Aside from some people just lacking the knowledge of what a site needs it's hard to stay motivated to keep it maintained and promoted day after day. Once you get over that hurdle things will be easier. The work doesn't get much easier but you'll become more efficient at it.

Looking at the title of this thread, I thought you had a different kind of problem.

People give up too easily. Great content and seo should bring sales in due time, but not instantly at first.
