Good size for new authority affiliate site?

Hi fellow warriors,

I'm considering setting up a new authority website for an affiliate product. My estimation is that 100-200 articles will make sure Google recognizes the site as an authority site. With articles of 400-600 words long I think it should work.

I intend to monetize with banners to the affiliate product as well as building a list and using email marketing.

Traffic will come from SEO mostly and maybe PPV in the beginning.

What do you think of the plan, think it will work?

Cheers,
Stealth

    Maybe...

These days though, Google likes longer articles better. They keep the visitor reading longer, and the longer they're on your site, the more Google likes you.

Plus, when are you going to start backlinking to it? If you do it right, you'll have traffic coming in from those backlinks as well as SEO.

There is only one way to find out my friend.

I am in the process of setting something similar up at the moment but I am going to sell my own product and promote it via adwords.

Hope it goes well for you.

Thanks Justin. I plan to start backlinking to the pages gradually. Maybe get some Fiverr package with Facebook likes to boost social media signs.

Sound like a good plan. However you are walking on main street here, with a lot of people doing the same. So it could be harder to get ranked and keep the visitors attracted as you currently think.

    Best regards,
    Mike

I wouldn't put shorter than 1000 words articles on my affilaite websites. And I wouldn't post more than 3-4 a week max.

Interesting, have you tested this strategy?

You have to keep the site active with fresh content every day/week.Your content must be engaging and appealing so that it gets a lot of social shares. This way your site will be considered authority in google.

Ok, but not all websites will get social shares, especially stuff people are ashamed of. So a site like one about a disease or a specific health issue will have to get it's likes another way.

I would mind sharing that. But I can say that it's in an adult niche .

Like what others suggested here, I also believe it is safer to stick to at least between 700-1000 words per article. But 200 articles would be a good start when setting up an authority site.

Good luck and keep us updated!

I think you can make it profitable if you put your marketing grind into motion. I would throw some PPC into the mix also.
