Well, you need to talk to your hosting company. They'll give you an EPP Code. This code will be an identifier for transferring a domain name to another hosting company or account. You can do this only if your domain is expiring (no later than 15-30 days from the expiration date).

    Hi,

You need to make a complete backup and restore it on the client's hosting. You can do this the hard way (manually back up the files and the database using PhpMyAdmin), or you can use a backup component (that's the solution I now use with all my websites) if the platform you've built the site with offers one.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

    Hi there,

If you have used Wordpress this is really easy - you can use a plugin like BackupBuddy / BackupCreator or any of the others on the market. Then it's a simple backup and restore.

If it is HTML then it's just a case of downloading the files from the sub-domain and uploading them to a domain.

You only need an EPP code if you are transferring a domain name, not when you are transferring the content of a domain.

    Hope that helps

Can you not FTP the files on the sub-directory site to the client's new site?

If you build it on Wordpress, you can use BackUp Buddy or WP Clone to copy the sites over very easily, and very fast!

    Good luck!

If that simple job of backup/restore which has many simple solutions seems to be complicated for you... maybe you should go a painless route!

Why don't you start straight with the customer domain? Cost under $9 and you scrap it if he doesn't like it. Just lose $9 and no problems whatsoever.

If he likes it, you're done.

If the customer wants to move to a new host that new host will transfer everything for him for free.

      Good luck.

    Hi John,

You may need to backup all of the files including the database. You can use backup buddy for that. Here's a super simple tutorial I found on Youtube. This video help me a lot when I migrated our site to a new domain name.
    Regards,
