Are keywords really that Important for Articles' Titles?

Is it necessary to use only those keywords in the titles that people search? Can't we use unique, and good, titles?

If you mean from an SEO point of view, then I'd say avoid using only keyword phrases as your titles. Think of a keyword phrase, search it in Google and look at the top 10....it seems to me that very few of them(websites/pages) have the exact phrase in their titles these days.

The Panda/Penguin/EMD updates have a lot to do with it, I think. In the past, you could do keyword research and find phrases with relatively little competition. Let's say you found 'How To Lose 10 Pounds In a Month', and decided to write an article with that exact title. In the past(assuming your site is in decent standing), you could do that, and expect to land pretty near the top of the results. That is probably a bad example, because that keyword actually is quite competitive, but I hope you get the idea

If I found that keyword phrase and decided I wanted to target it with an article, I'd probably call it something like '10 Tips To Help You Lose 10 Pounds In Just One Month' or something like that.

So yeah, by all means use keywords within your titles - but be creative and don't 'over optimize'

SO very easy to do this. A lot of times you're thinking the article isn't optimized enough when it is! I've published content without a super impressive keyword density and it still managed to get indexed high.

It IS important to have them in your title, however, It gets to a point where you have to be careful. After a while your titles will sound generic. I feel that if you have enough content out there, and you've done a great job at branding yourself, you can get away with "stylish" titles. For instance if you're driving enough traffic to where your content is, NOT using keywords in your titles won't hurt as much.

The ideal title would be one utilizing a keyword and yet still be unique and catchy.

I say it is not just important for your search, but also for the relevance of the article. When people visit the article they want to see the title is the same relevance of what they were searching for.

As with all things, mix it up a little.

In addition, install one of those plugins that allows you to have one title for the engines and another title for real people.
