How to get ads on forums

Hi

For the product I am marketing I am trying to place ads on specific forums ('English language learning' forums in fact).

Does anyone here have any idea ho to go about doing this? I mean, of course I can always contact forum moderators/ owners directly and ask them what it would cost but there must be an easier way. Are there any broker services that can get this done?

I tried PPC ads twice but it was a waste of money with no results at all. This is why I want to choose precisely where I want to advertise.

Any ideas?

No broker services that i know of. Why the apprehension about asking the moderator/owner directly?

Almost all forums will have an advertising button on the bottom of the site. They may call it Media Kit, but they all have ad rates. The owner is usually the person you will talk/negotiate with anyway. They might have a 'marketing' person you talk with, but unless it is a large corporate forum, you will end up talking to the owners and/or moderators anyway.

If you are offering them advertising dollars, they will welcome your call.

Hi Randall and Warren, no apprehension as such, was just asking as there are so many different forums out there and using a professional service could have made life easier. Also, I remember pursuing this idea some time ago and contacting a forum owner directly- of course in writing and with a professional approach, only to be turned down. Wouldn't even give rates.
It needs to be understood that anyone can start a forum, you do not need to be a marketer, particularly smart or even be after money, so a lot of forum owners are to all intents and purposes amateurs, not businessmen. Contacting them is also often quite cumbersome: you have to register on each forum, fill in forms etc. If there was a brokering service for this kind of thing, it would make advertising so much easier.

I once read something about a company called 'ad buyer'. having lost their details, however, in my search I came across several companies with very similar names but not the one I was looking for!
Ad Buyer promised to 'put your ad on any specific site you chose to have your ads'. Sounded good, so when i didn't find the company again, I thought I'd ask on the WF.
