Videos voice over or music?

From your experience making video reviews, what converts best. Voice over or music?

I was planning on using slides with text, a few graphics and animoto to make the video.

Thanks guys.

I would use voice over where ever you can as telling someone to click the link generally works better than not telling them.. YT is using voice recognition to help with ranking videos.

If your reviewing something, I typically like to hear someone's voice. I've never actually made any video reviews for the purpose of selling, so I guess I'm approaching this as a consumer. So as a consumer, if you were trying to sell something to me, via your product review, I would probably want a voice talking about the product. Not only because I think people can process spoken words faster then written words, but then you don't take up space in your video putting captions. Now it might be cool to do a voice over, with text highlighting some key points, then with a subtle background music track. You know, something that's generally upbeat and will subconsciously convince your viewers to whip out their credit cards. Well maybe not that much, but that's my view. Voice over first, text only when needed, and subtle background music.

I personally like voice-overs. It's more personable and engaging.

Keep the graphics changing too and have different graphics show up on different areas of the screen to engage your viewers even better.

I think Animoto has good effects but personally, even a simple PowerPoint slide show with voice over beats Animoto hands-down. That's my thought

Voice over would help gain the trust of the visitor. Especially if it is a product you have actually purchased and then you are doing a live screen capture sneak peak inside as you do your review. I use CamStudio to do my screen capture videos.

Otherwise it is just kind of an advertisment rather than a review with lots of pictures over music. Some sales should still come of it if it ranks for that product keyword though, but the personal voice over one would convert better I would think.

I agree, voice is best, no matter what you sound like! I actually mess up on purpose in videos a lot, or go in ad-lib to sound less snake oil salesmanish, if that makes sense! Plus they can tab over to email or facebook and still be listening to you!

Voice over above all, but if possible both. Find music the compliments your video and doesn't distract from it.

Music is good for filling in the gaps between when you speak and are showing something on screen.

I like voice over, music seems to me even as a consumer to be annoying most of the time.

    Voice definitely!!!

When I watch a video with the purpose of finding out how something works or hearing a review the last thing I find helpful is music and no one speaking.

I always exit straight away and go elsewhere. If the creator of the video can't be bothered then neither can I

    Voiceovers just pure music.

But if you can, combine the two, especially if it's a nice intro video to a product or service. If it's a tutorial, clearly just the voice.

But when you find the perfect combination of music and voice (and a well-done video of course), then the results can be incredible.

I try to use both when I can. If i had to choose one, I'd say voice is usually more engaging.
