Hi Warriors,
I am looking to get into this whole market of building videos and getting them to go viral. However I do have a question on how to get started and what methods to use.

What is a good software program to use to record my screen and my voice at the same time? I hear Camtasia however does this not come with a hefty price tag? Are there any free decent methods to go with for starting out?

    Hi Sean,

Check out Debut Video Capture Software and Jing. Also look at Camstudio.

These are some free solutions you may like to check out.

All the best settling on one that works for you and suits your needs.

    Cheers!

Camtasia is definitely the way to go

Get your credit card out and use it.

You can have a free 1 month trial for free. If you use this well you will have made more than the cost of the software before the month is up.

I did the free trial and had a 9 video product up and running in 2 days.
By the end of the trial I had made much more than the cost of Camtasia in sales.

I agree Camtasia pays for itself in the way of video tutorials and walkthroughs, and video infomercials and products...

      Yeah, Camtasia all the way!

      I've never looked back.

However, Jing is also a good free alternative.

Adobe Captivate 4 is the best in the market, period.

I wouldn't care for anything less. Good luck.

I would say that captivate is good. But it is expensive, and camtasia provides all that IMers really need...

I agree Camtasia has it all figured out pretty well. For non screen-capture video I use MediaStudioPro v8 - now obsolete I think, but I've never found anything better.

Camtasia is pretty good - though it would be nice to have a bit more selection of output formats.

I use Camtasia also. It's got a short learning curve and version 6 has some great new features. As far as video output formats, There is a free conversion tool that will convert nearly any format from one to another.

It's called Super made by eRightSoft this totally rocks. And did I mention it's FREE?

      Here's the link

Best of luck with your new venture.

    Maria! Movie maker!

I would really invest in better programs if I were you.

Movie maker is good for some stuff, but for more functionality you need to be looking higher in the food chain IMHO
