    You should start with SMM - social media marketing

    Build a following in all the major social networks.

    Also a great way to raise brand awareness is by free giveaways and contests.

    Email list will be a must as well, so you can stay in touch with your existing followers.

    You will need to create a solid USP around which to build your brand, so potential customers will know why they should buy from you, and why they should follow you instead of buying or following your competitors.

    A brand name needs to be linked to an irresistible reason to buy, otherwise promoting the name is simply name recognition advertising.

      I think Don is spot on here, and I'd also like to add that 'the why' is probably the most overlooked aspect of brand building, but probably the most important.

    Current SEO conditions will favor those building their own brand.

    Use social media, especially Facebook fan pages and do try commenting system like Disqus - the latter helps you build brand awareness, because you simply log-in to it and you can spread comments with your brand name on others sites. Once logged in, you can comment across sites automatically with your brand name linked to your URL.

    Branding is just the way to go if you have some resources and ready for the upfront work too, if done well it can pay off handsomely too.

    If you are thinking of branding you should think of a good name too. The name you choose matters, nothing offensive or derogatory. Anything in line with your niche or generally acceptable like MONEY. I don't mean you should use the name MONEY.

    Get all the necessary social networking sites button on your site.. Customers loves this and you will have access to your teaming clients with just a push of the button.

    Create a nice blog and have only and only the best content posted frequently. I suggest you learn something about blogging and above all you have to try to be ahead of the game on your niche and the first to let out the cat out of the bag when comes to any news in your niche.

    Your site should be simple and easy to navigate.

    I implore you grab a few authority sites and see how they are, what they have and work on something similar and better too.
