sudden drop of traffic on long performing blog
Would really appreciate any help or feedback on this as my two years work on this blog seem to have been wiped out over night!
Basically I have this iphone app review blog for two years and it was generating some decent traffic and revenue ($20,000 ad revenue in last 12 months most of it paid for writers and site editor so not much for me). This year traffic decreased gradually but still did well and actually had three months of slight rise in traffic from Jun-Sep. Then I decided to sell the blog on Flippa.com but it wasn't accepted because it had iPhone in the URL. So I changed the name and did 301 redirect. Initially almost all traffic was transferred but then suddenly one day two weeks after the domain switch over the search engine traffic dropped by 70% and it has stayed there for the past week!!
This has never happened before and we haven't been doing anything differently except for posting original content. No link buying or selling or things like that. :confused:
Any thoughts? Has anybody experienced something similar after switching domain name?
