Very little, and very rarely, I think.

Affiliate sales aren't really made that way, to any appreciable extent. (And hardly anyone who owns a forum is going to tolerate that, anyway. You'd be a "trespasser", abusing their hospitality for your own financial gain, really, wouldn't you? Hardly a promising "business model"?!).

I think this post will help you. (It was about "ClickBank sales" but you can read it just as "affiliate sales" and it'll still be valid. I promote Amazon products too, and the same things apply). http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7110523

Many popular forums do not allow affiliate links in signatures. I think it is a very good policy. You need to have your website or blog to upload images or banners and then include it in forums signature. Digitalpoint forums of course allows affiliate links in the signature area.

The main reason why forums do not allow affiliate links besides preventing spamming, is the credibility of postings. People who come to foums seek assistance and honest advice, but If your sole reason of participation is promoting your affiliate link, then it's just not reliable.

Hey you can't put your affiliate link on your signature most of the time... in 90% of all forums.

What you can do is direct traffic to your website, where you collect their emails.

If I were you I'd promote CB products rather than amazon products.

Most of the time in your signature you are allowed to put your website but not your affiliate links.

what about if someone asks for your opinion , and you refer them to a book you're promoting.

I don't see that as being spam, or is it?
It's different than having a link in your signature.

Not all forums allowed you to post affiliate link, for example warriorforum don't allow it, so you have to read the forum's rules before you go ahead to post your affiliate link.

While people are so quick to making sure you don't post your link on this forum or other sites I still didn't see any help geared toward being a successful forum poster, maybe with 1 exception.

All I see are forum cops giving you rules. Anyways, a very good way around this is to search on google Forums you can put your affiliate link on. The idea is not to go crazy spamming but to be very helpful and informative while giving a solution to people.

Set up your profile really good with those sites and if it allows you to put your link somewhere in your profile then do that because as you give valuable information people will seek you and your profile out.

This way you stay a legit ad poster while eliminating the spamming and helping people get to something you think or know they need. Hope that helps a bunch without all the quick NON-Helpful, Judgemental advice.

I'm not here to argue, I'm here to help people not shy them away from a site that's actually supposed to help people and was built on sharing affiliate links. It's just done in a more professional way these days. Take a deep breath, get with the times and go get that money. Nuff said!!

Oh and yes the Forum posting technique can and will work for you if done correctly without being a spammer of course or you bring these forum popo's out. hahahahahaha lol Take Care!

You don't have a point - you are arguing with a thread from 2012 - how did you even dig up such an old thread to post in as a 'new' member?

Not the way to build credibility on any forum.

A bit of a chip on your shoulder or just a bad attitude?
How to make friends... join a forum and immediately start antagonizing fellow members... Anyway any member who cares about the forum is a "forum cop":

You can put a link in your signature block, but you are not supposed to put a link in your actual posts. You can usually put a link in your profile so when people look you up, they can see what you are promoting. Other than that you can suggest people PM you, but if you send unsolicited private messages you will get banned.

It depends on the forum. Some will allow it, but most will not.

You're better off finding relevant blogs with high PR (page rank) and leaving a RELEVANT, HELPFUL comment and including your link. You would be surprised just how much free targeted traffic you can receive from blog comments.

You at-least need to buy a domain name to use in any forum, such that you just forward your affiliate links thru the domain. but forums do not allow affiliate links.

Well, since this ancient topic got de-mothballed for whatever reason, I would say that you COULD potentially post affiliate links on certain types of forum - especially Facebook, if you count that as a forum (groups, pages etc.), but in my experience you have to be a somewhat trusted member to do that and it might still get frowned on.

But for example if I am participating in a discussion on a Facebook group on how to pickle cucumbers, and the topic of pickling jars comes up, and I want to show people which ones I bought, am I going to supply an "affiliatised" link to Amazon rather than a plain one? Well, sure, probably. But you have to ask yourself whether that is a good use of your time, or a very effective way to get affiliate sales. I do it from time to time, but I can't say that it's made me rich if you know what I mean.

Plus if the group/page/forum owner is remotely Internet savvy, or any of the users are (often they are not) they might well say, hey, no sneaky affiliate links.

It's not really worth taking this route, especially as I find most affiliate marketers just don't have the patience (or interest or authenticity) to gain trust in a forum, they just want to spam their links, and it gets obvious very quickly.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise
