Doing some good for Hurricane Sandy survivors tomorrow etc

Hi -

I'll be emailing my lists asking folks to send donations to red cross or whatever relief agency they want, to help survivors of tonight's big storm; that may be something others could consider too, is helping donate to relief efforts; this looks to be a major catastrophe, following the news on cable tv today. And to all of you there in the northeastern states of the US, best wishes for staying safe.

Times like this are one time it's especially good to have a big list, is to help others in need during these thankfully rare natural disasters.

Here's the email I just sent to thousands on my email list; as an example:

If you've been following the news as I have (one of the rare
times I watch cable news) today, you can see a lot of folks
are going to be in need of help starting tomorrow morning.

    Hi John,

Watching the news today, and the footage from NYC and NJ, it
looks to be a historically-severe storm hitting our coastline
    later tonight:

CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News

I would ask that if you're able, please consider donating to
relief efforts to help those who will be in need, starting
    tomorrow.

Personally I donate to the Red Cross; there may be other places
    to help out as well:

Red Cross Responding to Hurricane Sandy

American Red Cross | Disaster Relief, CPR Certification, Donate Blood

With thousands of you on my email list that are getting this,
if everyone donates just a bit, every dollar can help. This looks
to be the biggest catastrophe in recent years in America here,
I urge you to consider helping out; this is "a big one" that's
estimated to cost over $20B in damage.

Thanks to all, and our thoughts and best wishes go to all of those
who are being affected by this major storm.

    Regards,

    Ken

Good for you. I lived through Andrew, and was in the eye of both Katrina and Wilma, some of the worst. I'll never forget the outpouring of kindness people showed from around the country.

Many volunteered, they just didn't come down for work and a paycheck. When you're in trouble and need help, there's really no need to look into what someones intentions are, maybe they just want to help, there's no time to be proud, just humble.

We have a lot of negative vibes about govt and times in the US. In crisis, all that is forgotten. Those of you who get affected by this storm( I really hope you don't) will realize what I did. America has a heart. Please help out if you can, even a little helps a lot.
