How to choose a niche?

Hello, I have been wanting to try article/bum marketing lately but am finding it very difficult to find a good niche and product to promote via article marketing. Every niche I look at seems to be either overcrowded with competition or no demand. Whenever I use googles keyword tool to look for keywords all the keywords have either really low search volume or an insane amount of competition like 20,000+ search results for searches with quotes. Should I pick a niche with alot of demand and competition or with low demand and low competition? Any suggestions?

Here are the niches I have been thinking about promoting:
-spyware/adware/malware removers
-registry fixers
-acne
-xbox 360 repair
-skateboarding
-online game guides like world of warcraft
-reverse phone lookups
-eczema
-heartburn

wich niche should I choose? Most of these have 2 or more products to promote but some of them only have 1. Also I have only been looking throught clickbank because everyone seems to recommend it for beginners.

Thanks.

Yes, clickbank is a good place to start for beginners.

Do a search in clickbank and see what is selling well for affiliates. Then select that niche and working with the keywords. Try to gather as many keywords as possible. Build your mini site with those keywords for the niche. Submit articles and participate in forums with your signature of that niche. Focus and take ACTION. You will begin your journey ...

    Hey highrider,

It's tough to say which one you should pick. They are all profitable if you do them right.

How are you going to go about your marketing? Articles, PPC?

The trick is to pick one and stick to it until you start seeing some results.

I have made money off reverse phone detective and xbox repair in the past.

You can try out few of them. I know it would take time, but if you do it right you can eliminate which ones are making money or which ones are not. As SaSeoPete said, try to stick one method for marketing. If you try to do all, you may get fustrated and give up.

Start with any one of those niches and then really work on the keyword research. Try to find long tail keywords that get a lot of searches but don't have much competition. You just have to go through the process. Find a good long tail keyword and put it in Google search. See how many pages of competition. Try to get below 50,000 pages if you can.
