What Are The Best Free Traffic Strategies?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to send some targeted traffic. I have time to invest not money so I'm looking for the most effective free traffic techniques that I could use.

Any ideas?

I'm mainly thinking about using big social sites like Youtube and Facebook but I don't really know what to do. I would be most comfortable with those 2 sources I think although I am open to new ideas.

I appreciate any input!

I know I know, but in all the other threads people just say things like Youtube or Facebook or build links for SEO etc.

I'm looking for some more specifics... (if that's possible to get for free )

I'm looking for a simple traffic blueprint type guide. I'm not asking anyone to write a book about it. Just looking for a few simple ideas...

For example, on Facebook I made posts on certain pages but then facebook says I'm spamming. I'm assuming this is not a legitimate option for steady traffic from FB so I'm wondering what to do next without spamming...

I'm willing to put in the work to get consistent traffic but just don't really know exactly what to do...

You'll find specifics... You just have to read the actual posts found on certain threads. There are literally hundreds of threads and thousands of posts giving out valuable information.

But since you asked, here's a blueprint for you: Join a forum, give out quality info, place your link in sig file. Free traffic...

Hi thedanbrown, Here's a quite unknown, but INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE and FREE way to spread the word about your website or blog quickly. Step 1, You should create a freebie incentive for your audience (it can be either a free eBook, course, PDF, report, a password-protected page on your site, whatever) Step 2, Go over to cloud:flood (it's cloudflood.com - no affiliation) and let the magic happen! What is cloud:flood? cloud:flood is much like paywithatweet.com, but it allows you to integrate Facebook sharing as well. How does this work as a traffic-generating strategy? In order for people to get your free product, cloud:flood will require them to tweet about your site to all their followers or share one of your site's pages with their FB friends. Since FB shares are one of the toughest social signals to get, not only will this strategy help you spread the word about your brand and products at record speed, it will also help you get backlinks from the 2 biggest social sites. And all these social signals are getting more and more important at Google, so they'll help you rank much better than a worthless directory- or spun-article submission could ever do. And since you were looking for FREE ideas, this tip is exactly what you need, I think. cloud:flood is COMPLETELY FREE, thanks to Glen Allsopp (he's a great guy, btw), you can use it as much as you want to. Step 3, Create your own buttons, embed them into your site and you're ready to rock. Hope that helps, Steve

You want a strategy built around your personal situation, is that correct?

      ok... here it goes...

      1. type in google your keyword.
      2. see what authority sites appear where you can post content free - in the first two pages.
      3. put your content there.
      4. make sure you tag your content right - follow those competing pages.
      5. give some link love to those pages.

they are called windows of opportunity. Very old, but still goodie.

Sissy disclaimer: please read the TOS of the sites and be nice. Remember that you are a guest; don´t walk with mud in the wood floors or you will be kicked out.

I use both YouTube and Facebook for free traffic.

For YouTube my strategy is to rank the video itself on the front page of Google. I choose a keyword to target with YouTube and put that as the first words in the title and the description and also use a good 300 word or so SEO targeted description text. And then backlink that just like I would an article (can usually be much more aggressive with YouTube backlinking) as well as get the video embedded on other sites. Online press releases are a good way to get lots of video embeds quickly.

For Facebook I have started experimenting with syndicating ads as well as blog posts through a large list of relevant Facebook Groups. I use hootsuite to automate the process and do 3 to 5 posts a day. There is good potential traffic there but you have to hit it quite hard to get noticed among the constant stream of ads that get posted on there.

You know, I often wonder whether it wouldn't be better if you have free time, to just write additional content for your site. So much energy is invested in SEO that I have a feeling if you just used all that time and energy to create really good content, in the long run you would have a very valuable site getting lots of traffic. My best performing sites have received no SEO.

I'm sure that is not always true, but.... in many cases...

Lot of methods have already been mentioned above. I dont find press releases mentioned anywhere above. Though its not free but its a great tool/ method at a very reasonable price, if written by a professional press release writer.

I'd say Just blog about your passion and build a large community of people in your niche craving for more and more of your content everyday. This is an excellent free traffic strategy

Actually, there ARE free press release sites, though one of my favorite free one has a option for $1 press releases (which you have to purchase in packs of 20). It gives pretty good ROI for the price.

Also, press release writing isn't rocket science. There are excellent tutorials out there, including some at PRWeb I believe.

The key is to find a news angle, and to stay focused on what's news about it. Also, stay in 3rd person (think "reporter mode") and avoid any sales-y language.

I second that. Do put a lot of focus on having great content on your site. But I still believe in doing other things to get the word out. There's lots of great advice here.

If you want real TARGETED traffic, try FORUM traffic. Here's why it is TARGET-specific

    1) You target your niche by picking out niche-specific forums. Check vbulletin for niche segmentation.

    2) You target responses by only participating in certain discussions and not others

    3) You target the premiums or digital content you offer.

By FILTERING so much, you are sure to only get SELECT EYEBALLS on your squeeze page.

This, of course, is not a QUICK AND EASY method. You have to keep at it. Also, you can't just come into a forum and spam away. Use Forum Marketing Best Practices to boost your chances, here is a good guide: Secrets To Effective Forum Posting | free website traffic

    1) There is not one direct source that will make you a SQULLION dollars by next xmas. Sorry to let you down.

    2) Its not traffic you are after, its warmed up leads, targeted traffic that you want to come to your site. Targeted traffic coming to your site, even if you are really crappy at writing copy you will still make sales, because these leads are already looking for stuff you are offering.

    3) Do not think what is the best way to get traffic. You are doing it all wrong. Instead think and write down, where is the most likely place you most IDEAL customer is hanging out MON - SUN and go there and put your messages or content in front of them. For us we can do this and literally take a site from $0 to over $4000 a month very quickly. Usually this will be High traffic blogs, forums, niche sites etc that is the best resources.

Go out and hunt for you targeted leads, dont just sit on you fat lazy ass waiting for them to come.

Youtube and Facebook are great. I use a lot of article marketing myself. I would suggest setting up a simple squeeze page so you can start building a list ASAP. Your list will prove to be your most valuable asset. Once you have people on your list you can quickly market to them with a push of a button.

iContact, GetResponse and ConstantContact offer free 30 day trials with no credit card required. Go sign up for one and start building a list. Buy a domain name and start sending your free traffic to it. If you can't afford a .com right now just get a .info.

The key really is to provide great value to your target audience at all times. When you do you will have no problem generating traffic.

    Hi There,
Great question. Although you may not like some of these ideas they do work. Try some of them you may be surprised. Solo ads quite cheap if you have little funds. Blog Commenting is effective. Guest Posting. Forum Marketing. Email Signatures. Ad Swaps. Live events.

These are quite easy to do, as traffic generating goes. I get involved with these all the
time. Try to concentrate on just one or two to start with. Then branch out onto others.

    to Your Success.

    Regards,...John
