Press Releases And Website Promotion

Any ideas on how to get a press release about promoting a website approved? Most releases promoting sites get rejected as not news worthy or too promotional.

write as a journalist, write about the facts, not something that smells pushing people to buy from your site.
Write just how you write a news

You might also look into some turnkey PR packages where a professional writes and submits them.

It depends on the PR site, but most of them are totally fine with a website being news. As visimedia and David suggest, it may have more to do with the way you write. You do need to work out the news angle even if you promote a website. And yes, no hype, and it must be in the 3rd person.

If you like, feel free to PM me a copy of one of your rejected press releases and I'll take a look. I might be able to help. I write and submit press releases a lot and have never had one rejected...

First make sure the press release site has got a good pagerank, you don't want backlinks if the're worth nothing, then write in good english and try to seem journalistic (look up some pages of the economist to get an idea of the style).

If this still does not work try contacting the staff of the site, they usually have a contact for these situations and they might tell you what you are doing wrong.

Keep in mind that links from press releases are not that great for google, or atleast that is my experience, it's still worth it if the pagerank is good.

Learn how to write in 3rd person, and study other great examples of press releases that have been accepted on the press release site that you're planning to submit to.
