Flippa is the best place on the net to sell domain names. Also a low key spot to sell them is on ebay. I have seen people make good money selling domains on ebay.

Well... Flippa is good, but generally what sells are sites that are already off the ground and have earnings. If they're legitimately good domains, heck, try it. I think it costs $19 to make the listing so it's not a massive risk.

you spend $29 to literally make hundreds, thousands or literally 10's of thousands.

The traffic flippa gets is much more now too. So do not be worried about taht $29 just make sure what you have on offer is something good, or special.

That's ok if you have 1 or 2 domains. If you have over 100 it's cost prohibitive.
They can charge commission like Sedo instead, but they prefer to $29. That way they make money with all the suckers and dreamers.

agree..Flippa is great place to sell either websites or domain names.. but it's $29 now for the listing.. $19 listing cost is gone long time ago unfortunatelly

I've tried selling on Flippa but that is for domains + functional web-site products with revenue. The other option is to use Sedo or one of the other domain broker services. Another option I've tried was to send everyone to a parking page and had direct contact to me. I sold it on the first $500 offer I got. If that was through Sedo the cost would have something like $700 (they jack up your asking price) and I likely would have got no offers.

I used escrow.com to do the money transfer.

Flippa is a huge market, if have a convincing pitch for the domain name. I have seen domain go for sale for quite a figure, depends on how you domain name and how well you project it really.

Sedo.com and Afternic.com are the best options. You pay nothing until the domain is sold. The fee charged covers full escrow service and you tap their traffic. A great deal. (Afternic has a small annual membership fee).

There are some forums that are specifically for buying and selling domains. One is called Name Pros, but there are others as well. I have to say, though, that as a free member I have listed domains on such forums numerous times and never gotten even one offer. I'm sure it depends on the domains you have, of course (mine were nothing outstanding). These forums also have paid memberships that give you more options.

Stu... and that way I will harwest, check and send email to people that I believe will greatly profit from my domain (s). Win, win situation. Plus it's well accepted approach even by the biggest Internet.domainers ak:Adam Di.. etc.

What's the domains value to someone who will buy it? Value comes in many forms...

1. Traffic. You may have the traffic other people pay for every click in Adwords or Bing. You can leverage that as a selling point.

2. Page rank. This will look appealing to anyone who would like to enter the niche you're in. Doing it from scratch.. vs buying an established domain? I know what would be my choice if I wanted search engine traffic...

3. Passive income. If your website is already producing income, you can sell for 10-24x on webmaster boards like Flippa, WarriorForum sites for sale..

Depending on what's the domain real value to the buyer, you will find where and to whom you can sell the site.

You're right... I'm just talking from my own experience. I have never sold or bought a domain based on its name alone and I have a hard time to quantify it.

  I did sell couple domains (both $40k)), just name, no stats, no traffic. But you have to have some luck to go with it. I have 200 more and I am ready to start my selling campaign.

Ie; give reasons WHY you think its a good place to sell websites. Rather than just saying, its a good place.

Sorry. But things like that just annoy me. If you're going to say something like that, back it up with some explanations as to why you feel that way or something. Especially after the other things that have been said in this thread about Flippa!

Sedo, Afternic, GoDaddy... each have their pros and cons but they are the best in aftermarket domain industry. I'm getting more sales in Sedo but with Afternic my average price is a lot better, I think they are great at getting end users.

I use Namecheap for my domains and I've noticed that you can also list your domains for sale.
I may look at selling a couple domains that way and see how it goes.
To avoid paying any fees....
You could try using Craigslist or some other place where you have eyes but not necessarily heavy competition.
That would probably work for doubling what you spent on the domain but not for any big dollars most likely.
Put a list of what you have available on social media or forums to see if you get any bites or interest.

fabulous.com is good and I have some domains with them.

microcoms.com I like this one because you get 100% of the clicks profit and you dont share anything! It is unusual but it's true! I think they have been around for 2 years or more. It's a free site, including advertising in the featured and show case domain listings

First of all you should try to register on Namepros dot com and ask for an appraisal (everything is free, never pay for an appraisal) and you can get a better idea of what your domain can be worthed.
Then you can decide where it is better to sell the domains. If they have low potential Sedo is the best, it's free and you can park the waiting for an offer or promoting them. If they can have a big value there are plenty of other solutions like domain brokers.
