I could google it or look on amazon, and I did it.
But an advice from you guys is always great.

Have you ever come across a great HD webcam?
I was thinking of this
Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD: Amazon.co.uk:...Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD: Amazon.co.uk:... but I don't think it's good enough.

I've been happy with the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, 1080p Widescreen Video Calling and Recording.

Do you (or can you) run an external mic with this camera? Been thinking of checking that one out, but I want to use an external mic, not onboard....

Ditto on the Logitech, I own one as well and am very happy with it's performance. The only thing it lacks, which some (or at least one) of the Microsoft Lifecam's has, is a thread to mount it on a standard tripod. I actually built my own tripod mount for the Logitech.

As for the external microphone you can do this with any webcam. I use a Blue Microphones Yeti USB microphone, but any high quality USB microphone or a standard microphone and a XLR to USB adapter would suffice. Just configure your system to use the Logitech for video and the USB microphone for sound.

Thanks, I think I will check that out!

As Bill said, the best solution is to use a separate mic for better quality sound recording. In general this would be true for any video recorder you get. I'll also second the use of the Blue Yeti for this.

I have a Logitech webcam for 3 years and I am super happy with the purchase price quality ratio. I will soon renew my camera and I will buy a Logitech without hesitation.

Hi, I'm looking for a webcam similar to the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 model. It gave me very good results in image and sound quality when I connected from my computer. I would like to know what model you can recommend me

The C920 is the best one around at the moment, it's even better than the FaceTime cam built into iMacs.

I know that because I've tested both side by side. Get the Logitech.

I have that Microsoft one and it's OK but I do have a separate external mic. Depends what you need it for. Many people just use their iphones these days.

The 'best" is a matter of opinion. Read reviews. They'll help a little.
