Amazon Removing Reviews

Apparently, thanks to the reviewers who did the whole Romney Binder reviews on Amazon, they're now cracking down on reviews.

Personally, I think that part's a good thing. But it might be that your legitimate reviews (from customers on your books or reviews you left) are being deleted too.

Here's a good letter that Konrath sent to Amazon about it:

A Newbie's Guide to Publishing: Amazon Removes Reviews

I looked at the TOS they linked to and it says you have to have bought it from Amazon. I wonder if they'll go backwards and delete any reviews you left if you bought elsewhere?

I didn't see more clarification about how they're deciding what to delete, though - because he says you can leave a 1 star review if you never even bought the product, but their TOS say differently.

hate to say it, but it's actually a good thing.

Sure, it will prevent legit reviews from getting in, but will also pretty much systematically remove fake reviews in one fell swoop.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did go back and check and make changes based on that. It's probably the only way they be sure the reviewer is legit.

Not too long ago I read about a person who was making about 4k per month on Fiverr by writing Amazon reviews. But Fiverr cracked down on that type of service.
