I have researched all types of IM strategies, now I would like your opinion.

I just read a seriously eye opening newsletter that pretty much targeted my lack of success with IM. Yes, I have bought thousands of dollars in get rich quick business in a box programs, plug ins, plus you name it. I have done online marketing, video marketing, SEO, off line marketing, you name it. Then this great new idea comes up and "BANG" I'm off on another venture. I have been making just enough money to keep the roof over my head and food in my stomach. BUT NOW IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!! Now I have to decide on what I want to focus my attention on. I enjoy working online. I love this field and will not give in.
I have read over and over, the money is in the list. Well, I have been doing a lot of off line marketing and getting new clients is a pain in the proverbial butt. I am leaning towards building a list and selling affiliate products and eventually selling info products that I create. I am putting this out there to get others input on what they feel about this and maybe some of their stories on how they got started. This is a great community of internet marketers and I appreciate the insight and educational value your input will provide. And I want to thank all in advance for what ever advise you have to offer.

I would definitely recommend affiliate marketing because you can get into any niche that interest you for zero dollars and if you utilize blogging, forums, youtube, and other parts of the social network, you can make a nice income for free.
Find your niche you want to promote first, than start blogging and youtubing in my opinion. That is how I do most of my marketing.

You are completely right. The money is in the list.

I think building your list and offering affiliate products is a way to go. However, if you started off by building your list, having your own products as OTOs on your squeeze page and selling your own products on forums, then you will make more money faster.

^^^This is frightening. Obviously these things weren't working (or you weren't working them) yet you kept right on flushing money away. What's going to be different this time?

You know, some people aren't cut out for business. There's no shame in that. If I were you I'd be looking for something else to do.

Thank you for your opinion. I have had several successful businesses. Just not online. I chose to go online because I have a lot of technical knowledge and truly enjoy working online. I will make this work. I do not give up. There is no such thing as failure as long as I learn from my experiences. That is why I have put this out here to this forum. Lots of very successful people with great and valuable information to share. I will soak it in like a sponge and move forward. Have a great day and thank you for your opinion.

I am very glad to hear you are not giving up! That is one of the most important skills you can have in this business.

Check out this short article I found about a man who never gave up on his dream... you may have heard of him.

In 1928, when Walt Disney was only 26 years old, he was on the train from
New York back to Kansas, when he drew a cartoon of a mouse on his
sketchpad. Convinced that this drawing had the potential to be a success, he
decided that he wanted to use it in a new form of film that had started to
        emerge called animation.

In 1926, silent cartoons were still the only form of cartoon being produced,
but Walt had a dream that he wanted his mouse to feature in the first cartoon which featured sound. In order to achieve this, he needed to raise
approximately $15,000. In today's money, that would be about $1 million.

Now put yourself in the shoes of a New York bank manager sitting at your
desk opposite a 26 year old lad who is asking you for a $1 million loan in
order to make a new type of film - which doesn't even exist yet - and involves a mouse.

Walt's bank manager laughed him out of the bank.

Undeterred Walt popped along to another bank to present his plan. He
received a similar reaction. The same happened at another. And another.
        And another...

How many banks would you have visited, receiving a mixture of negative and
hostile reactions, before giving up? One? Two? Ten? Twenty?

Walt Disney visited 305 banks before he found one prepared to take a chance
        with him.

Now that's what I call perseverance! Wow, very motivating stuff, just tells you, never ever quit!

Start building an email list, and get a theme from Woo Themes as well as a squeeze page from Squeeze Domination. This is all it takes.

These are not strategies. They're a random assortment of tactics. That's a huge difference - and once you understand it instinctively you'll be well on your way to creating a business plan that will work beyond your wildest dreams.

In building a list, you need numbers ... why not get in front of the numbers as they are searching. A lot of my success comes from blogging about WHAT PEOPLE are searching for. I use Google trends...

Currently as of Nov 2 2012 : A hot topic is the New York Marathon post Hurricane Sandy. Now it is easy to rank for something like this as it is trending news, meaning no previous competition. Blog about it, create a popup where they can subscribe to your blog and or newsletter, and let the numbers play in your favor ... SUCCESS online is not about having the best product or prettiest site it's about EYEBALLS ... ever wonder why the auto industry plunks millions of dollars in TV ads in front of people who just want to watch two and a half men ? Marketing is Marketing you need eyeballs, that equals brand exposure, that equals MONEY! most of the time

Building your list is probably the smartest move you can make in internet marketing - that is if you are in it for long term.

Take for example you have a small list say 200 (which is very easy to do) then you sell a product for $27. It only takes 37 people to buy that product to make you an extra $1000 a month.

Imagine you continue building your list over time and now its at 10,000. You sell another product for $27 - since your list trust you and knows your looking after them, getting another 500 sales overnight can be as easy as sending out one broadcast which = $13,500 in 1 day!

So in my opinion Start building your list Today! and do not buy anything else

If you go with the affiliate marketing route, and you get sales... how will you go about getting the customer info for backend selling?
