YouTube Monetize or Not?

If you have a YouTube video promoting a specific product should you monetize or not?

I am guessing not as the ads could get some to click off your video and even might feature similar types of products that will draw the viewers away from your product right?

      Hey Blackman75,

I would recommend not monetizing it for the main reason that you explained.

Think of it this way, would you rather have someone clicking on an ad that will make you a few cents, or clicking on a link that can make you X amount of dollars?

      Hope this helps

If you own all the content that you post, and as long as you don't violate the terms of service, then by all means, monetize your content!!!!!

The fact of the matter is some will click on the ad, some won't - it's a numbers game. But, as far as monetizing it, if it's a good quality video for your niche, then those that you target are going to be the ones watching it, so your conversions will be pretty good as long as you're getting decent views :0

If the video is already promoting a product that you're making money with, ads would only get in the way. I wouldn't bother unless you're getting a ton of views but very few sales.

I would suggest that you Monetize for a week or 2 then compare total earnings between having it Monetized and not having it Monetized . After that you should be certain as to what to though.

If you have the ability and knowledge to monetize your YouTube page then you should if you are pulling enough traffic to make it profitable. This is all about how much traffic you're bringing to your You Tube videos. Monetizing gives you additional sources of income. The more sources of income you have the more money you will make. So if you bringing the traffic then you definitely want to monetize and if your not bringing the traffic, then focus on that first and then monetize as soon as you can.

I don't monetize them for some basic reasons like excess monetization will make them more spammy. and the reason that you have described is also reasonable.

I'd rather not monetize it if I have my own product to promote. It would simply increase the competition and offer a complete distraction to your viewers who'd be easily diverted to the ads, rather than viewing your own promotional content on YouTube and actually clicking your website link. It simply defeats the purpose.
