Best eBook Niches that Will Sell?

Hello there Warriors,

I've been inspired to write an ebook, but I want to ensure that the book will cover a niche that people want to read about. What do you think would be best choices of topics for a Kindle ebook? I have a few ideas, but I just want to see what you all think. Thanks!

I think diet and health are always a hot topic although that comes with a lot of competition. I always like to peruse travel topics such as budget travel or solo travel. IM topics, investing, sports ... I guess whatever you're most knowledgeable in and want to share your passion with others.

Any niche where there is passion, an urgency to know about or improve something.

I wouldn't leave this to chance, no need to these days. There are so many ways you can test ideas (discussion groups, blogs, ebook directories like Clickbank and Amazon, reviewing magazines in your niche, etc...)

Where most people go wrong is not in picking the larger market, but in really focusing on an extreme urgency for either gaining a particular skill, advantage or overcoming a specific issue.

As one example, a generic ebook on weight loss will be much harder to sell than an ebook about belly fat.

Make sure you understand your market and know what you can give them that will improve their lives (they may know exactly what that is today or they may not), but the better you know your market, the more chance you have of reading their mind and having a hit ebook.

In some markets we have figured that out very quickly, in other markets it is more nascent, for those markets where you have doubts you can "test" by publishing content around the topic you are thinking about and either sell an affiliate product or give away a report or video series to get a better look at the market.

The more niche the better I say.

I've been promoting a Twilight saga CPA offer recently and it has been converting really well. I showed my brother the stats and he decided to have an ebook written for Kindle about the occult based on the fact vampire stories are popular!

He outsourced the whole thing and the past 2 weeks he's coined it, especially the few days coming up to Halloween.

All sorts of niches can be profitable, don't be afraid of going into a big market; you only need a small part of it to do really well!

I would follow all the previous posts advice: what is of interest to you? What is selling on Kindle at the moment? What are the hot topics on related forums?

Also, how are you planning to market? Whilst you should not choose a niche based soley on popularity you will want something you can easily promote and gain endorsements for.

    Hope that helps!

    Best of luck

Go to ClickBank's marketplace and click on their search without putting anything in the search box and you will see all of the most popular products across all niches. Start there and you'll get some ideas.

Make research at Amazon. Go to Books - Bestsellers. Some of the books are more than 2000 days in top 100 there. Look at those niche.

I wouldn't sell an ebook on Kindle. I would self-publish on a website.

Why? Because the Kindle market is only for ridiculously low prices like $2.99 for an ebook, or even $0.99.

Only a very few authors are going to get rich... or even get anything... just making nickels and dimes per sale.

By selling on your own website, you can control your own sales material (not subject to bad Amazon reviews published right next to the BUY button that can slaughter your sales), and you can charge higher prices.

In general, the minimum you should charge for an ebook is $19.95. Or, charge a lower price like $7 only if you have a backend product that you are going to upsell them with.

Yes, please keep thinking (and spreading) this line of thought. Less competition for guys like me who are making just a wee bit more than nickels and dimes..

That may be true. But... Amazon is a MASSIVE self-contained marketplace with MILLIONS of people looking for information. How easy to you think it would be for someone hocking an ebook from his little minisite to attract the huge number of buyers you're going to find on Amazon? It ain't gonna happen.

What does it take? Write something good that people want. Title it right, get a nice cover and write an excellent book description. I'm not a big fan of SEO but using the right keywords on Amazon is essential to getting noticed. Then promote it just the same way you'd promote an independent site. A whole bunch of really fast nickles are better than realllllly slow dimes any day.

Really? Isn't this like asking people what the best type of food is?

Anything - just depends on your taste (see what I did there? )

Really though, go where the traffic is - go where the desperate buyers (or subscribers are)

Write about something you know about. If not, you can easily outsource it on odesk or iwriter for $10 or $20 - just make sure you use a high quality writer.

Write a book on how to pick niches. Seriously. Every week there are at least a half dozen new threads asking that question so you know it's in demand. If someone doesn't do it soon I'm going to.

I was thinking about writing an ebook for Kindle because I read that Amazon promotes all ebooks, and this is a big advantage. I cared about this matter two years ago but I found their system quite complicated. I hope that now everything is simpler. The technical aspect discouraged me because I read that if the font is not the right one there are problems, and I abandoned this matter. But I keep seeing threads about Kindle ebooks here. They seem to be a very good idea.

From what I read the ebooks people like in Kindle are quite different from the Clickbank ebooks, and this is why literary ebooks are the best ones for Kindle. Literature is selling more than anything else.

A very good idea for a literary ebook for Kindle is an ebook about your life biography. People like to learn real stories, and everyone can write the story of their own life.

You have to write your philosophical conclusions after each period of your life. For example, ‘after becoming a teen, I understood how lucky I was when I was a child’, things like that, to make your book interesting, and not just a boring narration. Your personal conclusions (as if you were a mere observer) will give a literary tone to your work.

Well, this is just an idea. You could test and make a simple ebook to see how everything works. I like the idea to look for what the public wants to buy before having bright ideas that won't sell, but you should also care about knowing what you are talking about.

A good idea is to write the ebook yourself and send it to an editor for corrections and improvements.

A couple of comments hit on part of what I believe should be the focus to choosing your target market but I'm going to attempt to nail it down a bit more.

Choose your target market based on one of the BIG 3 - Health, Wealth, and Relationships.

Do your research and know your market!

Find the hot and desperate problems and seek to solve them within your info product.

Hot Tip: Don't be general... Get specific!
Example: How to lose weight vs. How to lose 7lbs. in the next 3 days guaranteed.
    Hope this helps.
    Make it a great day,
