Getting a US Dolar Funds Credit Card In The UK

Hi Everyone,
I am getting tired of loosing money on converting my dollar payments to pounds on my UK credit card.

My bank does not know how to get me a USA funded credit card.

Could anyone reccomend a good USA funded credit card for UK residents?

Brian,
Easiest way is to open a US Dollar denominated bank account with Visa debit card attached. All banks should offer you such an account both personal and business.

That's a good idea and one that I've never considered.

I guess it depends on how much your USD outlays are. If you're reinvesting nearly all your income then it will probably make a large difference.

You could also try local branches of US banks e.g. Citibank probably has the largest presence here in the UK and I have seen them advertising USD accounts before.

Just got back from the bank, after being sent to another branch, and then the clerk there running around trying to find soembody to help it looks like I will get a call back to set this up .

I've had a USD account for years with HBOS. Remember you'll get charged a fee normally to convert into pounds but as many things can be paid for with USD it helps particularly if you have lots of smaller USD amounts into your account.

I too have a USD account with HBOS.

It's just a pity that PayPal won't allow me to assign my HBOS USD account to my PayPal account because then I could avoid the horrible PayPal exchange rate!

I guess the exchange mechanism (aka fund withdrawal) is a money-spinner for PayPal hence the reason they don't allow it.

Sounds like it. But they can "bite me" cause I will move back to USA and open up a USA paypal account.

That seems a little extreme, just to get a better exchange rate. The flights alone will eat up the difference in rate

I have an emergency situation where i need to get $1000 fast for my car to be repaired. I need the money fast but I still want to not get screwed over.
My friend suggested an online site that he used before called instantbailout.com I looked it over and it looks ok, but I am not sure
what is a reasonable rate for a payday loan. Is there a standard for this
type of loan? Also does a payday loan effect your credit?
