I suggest both and put them in some sort of funnel. The squeeze page will attract people to sign up for an offer you have and your blog will help you to develop a relationship with you list which is very important.

Once people get on your list you can send them messages and refer them back to your blog/site.

The "how long is a piece of string?" question.

What are the other people in your niche doing, and don't confuse list building with making money. If you build the list and don't offer any value it will cost you a lot more in the long run as you can easily loose reputation if you do email marketing badly.

Squeeze page is great if you want to build your list while promoting some website, while landing page is good when you need to quickly redirect your traffic somewhere without losing them.

A squeeze page is a type of landing page, Antonio.

A landing page is simply the page on which your traffic lands - it can be absolutely any kind of page you like: a content-rich page, an article, a squeeze page, a non-squeeze-page opt-in, a sales page, a contents page, a blog home page ... whatever you like. It's your site and you get to choose. You can even have different landing pages on the same website, and direct traffic from different sources to each.

I generally use both depending on the traffic and number of leads that I want to gather from each.

I definitely prefer using an opt-in page vs. website. It targets those people who are browsing quickly and do not have the time to go through all the content on a website, but can maybe later on. That way you get them in your autoresponder and can drip to them.

It's a nonsensical question. It's like saying do you prefer a page or a book.

A squeeze page is part of a website.

Hi Peter ... English isn't Ilynreal's first language, you know? The question being asked here, surely, is simply about whether a pure squeeze page is preferable to an alternative sort of opt-in included on the landing page of something that looks to the visitor like a "complete website" rather than just "an individual page"?

It can be a complete website in itself, hello (I know those are no good, but that's part of what's being asked here, I think?) ...

The question had no spelling errors and was grammatically correct, so I had no reason to think that English wasn't Ilynreal's first language.

That's a good interpretation, which may or may not have been the actual nature of the original question.

nice one. I do have both. Actually I have multiple streams to attract customers and keep it open. I have my website, landing page/ squeezepage , social media pages(SSS) and various offline promotions to come to my site for opt in or for building up lists.

Actually depending on various niche, I do have a main site as well as squeeze page / s for my product/s+services.

          Best wishes,

Squeeze page, landing page, opt-in form on a web site - all are a slightly different means to an end - capturing a prospect's contact information so marketing can begin.

            Here's a novel alternative ...

What if you presented the visitor with something so inherently valuable, so sought after, so incredibly awesome that the prospect came looking for you and demanded that you give him that "thing" (whatever it is) right this very minute, regardless of what it cost!

I would imagine that any type of opt-in or means of giving his personal information in exchange for your super valuable gift under these circumstances would be fine, in fact, probably irrelevant (squeeze page, landing page, or opt-in form on a web site).

To me, the discussion on this thread is really about finding the least offensive way to ask prospects for their personal contact information since I'm guessing that, given the choice, a high percentage of visitors would prefer to get the bribe without having to divulge anything.

Hence, maybe a more useful future discussion should follow about how to find or create and offer something that is so enticing and valuable you will have to somehow limit the number of prospects you can share it with.

With all of these outrageous animal updates google is giving us, many choose to avoid seo and just go ahead with list building. For me personally i do NOTHING with SEO anymore. Only time i do is with youtube, and that isn't my primary source of income. All i do now is list building, CPA, and little of affiliate marketing with youtube. But personally I LOVE LISTBUILDING. it is true, the money is really in the list

For me, working chiefly in the solo ad world at the moment, it has to be a squeeze page.

But remember, even if you're list building, there's no reason you can't add value once people are on that list. I tend to couple my "ad value"experience from my SEO days (also don't do SEO anymore) with my list building and it seems to work.

My open rates are above the average for solo ad suppliers when I look at the stats. I also know what I call "Kamikaze" list builders who's only objective is to get numbers on their list and stuff the value.

      That's just plain dumb.

There are a number of niches I'm in where I've stopped using the 'traditional' squeeze page approach, (that's where visitors have to optin first to get my free whatever)

Instead, for the last 6 months I've been testing my 'stealth' optin method where I've been getting a 147% increase in optins using this strategy. (In many cases I'm now getting an 83% optin rate)

Based on my testing with this, I may well be rolling out my 'stealth' strategy for all my niches.
