When should I consider investing in ads?

Hello,
I have had my web site up and running since the 29th, and I was wondering when should I consider changing plans and maybe either adding some featyre to my site or consider advertising? I am currently ranked 2nd for a keyword on Google, and I am getting 20 visitor to my site per day, and Google Keyword tool indicates the term gets 2,200 searches a month on Google. I am just wondering if the keyword I am targeting is all that good, since it is specific, yet it has nothing in it to suggest a sale (ex. buying:"how to treat X", not buying"servre X"). So since it is not a sales keyword, would it be wise to consider in another month buying some ad space in a newsletter, or would it be better if I waited for my traffic to convert? I am not quite sure if the keyword is just an inquiry into a condition, or more of people who know what it is. Perhaps I could change the marketing to target these inquiries. So should I invest in ads, or continue with organic methods?

Whatever you decide, do NOT invest in paid traffic until you have studied it thoroughly. At the very bare minimum you should grab Traffic Evolution to get the basics and then make sure you are tracking every single keyword and every single ad campaign you set up; otherwise you will lose your shirt faster than Lindsay Lohan can snort up a line. lol

Organic traffic can take awhile to build. If you are going for PPC then I would suggest study everything you can both written and on youtube, then perform tests with your ads. Always test and always watch your competition. Did I mention test?

Paid traffic will not be of useful if you do not plan and get targeted traffic. You may buy traffic in Adwords or using any PPC program, but if it is not laser targeted, you will not see fruitful results!

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of maybe advertising on an email list and seeing how that went. But I think I will opt for waiting and seeing how my traffic goes. It is just so hard to do when you have had success with certain systems in the past, and now you are doing something new. It is kind of like waiting for Christmas. You hope you have been doing the right things (being good), and you can't wait for Santa to come. It is just kind of hard to wait. But I know in the end, that is what I need to do.
