Outsourcing: Writing services

Hey all, so I want to finish the next two two months strong before the year ends. I'm planning to invest about $400 into one of the writing services, so that way I get more content out of the way (on top of what I write as well). I've messed around with iWriter before and the writers are "decent."

Sure, some of you may recommend "hire a writer" but IS there any writing service that's actually good? I know you guys use fiverr, and odesk but I haven't had any luck with those either.

Worst case scenario, I can just stay with iWriter and edit their work. Anyways, thanks.

    Hi,

A quick question, Hope you don't mind.

When using iWriter, do you use the better or elite writers or?

Elite writers take quite some time so I just let it go by default. I tend to reject a lot until I get a 4 or 5 star rating. But even then I still read their work if I want to accept them.

I have had all my success on oDesk when finding writers. But there are definitely a few tricks.

I have had best results from actually finding writers based on filtering results by price and rating and directly contacting them for a trial.

However if you post an ad make sure you put a line in the middle somewhere saying something like "please put the answer of 3+3 in subject of your reply". You will actually get a lot of seemingly customized responses that are actually pre-written and spammed on many similar job ads, this trick allows you to cut out the spam.

Then choose the 4 best responses and give them all the same trial to write. Judge results on quality, speed, price, etc.

I follow this method when hiring writers from oDesk and always have excellent quality for the price. Much better than iWriter and other similar services I have tried here and there.

Well I can't be completely subjective on this one because I'm a writer as well, but before I got into that, I used to review some of the writing services being offered right here, in the WFH section - and some of the guys were unbeliveable!

I don't know what your budget is though, but you can find some insanely good writers for like $10 a pop (pop meaning 500 word article). They usually figure out they're good quite soon and raise their prices, so you gotta be quick about it

Similar to iWriter. There's a special instruction box, and I tell them specifically something like "DO NOT add an introduction or a conclusion, for I WILL add that."

And typically I'll get maybe a response back in 5 min that looks spammy, where I automatically know it's just automated or whatever it is. And I reject that one.

Then there are those that do take the time to follow strict instructions so I accept those, and I give them a little tip =).

I find writers that write 1000 words for $5 at Fiverr. The key is to look at their samples and their reviews. There many good writers there. Don't let the low price fool you. Also, a lot of 'native english speakers' who offer writing services aren't college graduates and their stuff sucks. If you complain, they say YOU are the bad guy. LOL.

Sometimes it's better to go with someone at Fiverr who does great work and doesn't have an entitlement mentality

I've used fiverr a few times and was happy with what I got...I just tried odesks media piston and was pretty unhappy and cancelled my order...so as icoachu said don't let the cheap price fool you.

    99cent articles are good too.

You can get a very good writer here at the warriors for hire section. Some of the writers are even native English speakers so you are assured of great content.

I used a few different services, but the last two writers I liked most of all were from Elance. That time I needed a content curator and couldn't find a good writer for a reasonable price on oDesk, so I tried Elance. As my first Elance writer, I got a quarter finalist for the 2011 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award for just $5 per hour. Later I hired another one, a philippino girl who wrote decent quality articles, but worked harder and delivered more. I still have a lot of applicants on Elance who wants to write for me. Most of them are moms or journalist students who needs an additional income stream or practice and portfolio.
