Hey thanks for looking at my first post!

I've been hanging around on the warrior forum for quite some time in the background reading through different threads and picking up different idea's to help promote my IM business. I love the community spirt here in helping others and decided that it was time that I joined!

Yep, I am new to IM but I do have a few feathers in my cap in such that I already own a small bricks and mortar business which does take up a proportion of my time and I have previously been involved with offline sales and marketing working for some quite big businesses.

My bigger picture plan (well you probably already guessed it!) is to grow my IM business so that I can eventually free up more of my time to spend with the family.

I've been facsinated by IM for quite a long time (especially since I really love the buzz of sales!) but I guess like many I've suffered the IM information overload.

Well I still have that exciting buzz and I'm now ready to go and start making some serious money!

Hopefully I will be able to share some of my experiences along the way and avoid the newbie pit falls.

Any newbie pit falls you would suggest to avoid would be appreciated.

Don't use free websites. Buy your own domain and hosting. Start capturing peoples emails right from the start.

Yes our YouTube views still work because we use PTC networks with real traffic, never had a video banned in 3 years of service ->

    Welcome to WF GlobalM7

Greatest advice would be to start building a list as soon as possible.

I am sure you have heard this before, but it is so true!

      Welcome!

Like you, I have been doing business off(and on-)line. Though I only recently discovered this place.

      See you around,

I do plan on hosting my sites and buying my own domains. Capturing emails is definately something I need to get my head around because I can definately see the value of that in the long term picture!

        I'm not.

What you need to do is find motivation. And once you do, you'll be unstoppable, and won't give up. IM is hard. You'll fail, so you'll have to be tough.

Personally I've failed a couple of times. Then I stopped IM for a few months only to get back at it again, stronger than even.

Find that motivation. Something that keeps you up at night. Something you want to work for. Anything really.

        Good luck.
Motivation is something that I do process and I guess I'm lucky that I can self-motivate, but I must admit it works much better when there are like minded people to bounce off.

Excellent! I'm not on my own then! We can both share our successes on the forum!

        Welcome.

Pitfalls? Don't buy with emotion. And remember most of what you need to know you can find right here on WF for free. Your already a war room member so make the most of it.

          Thanks Shane!

I've had a quick look at the War Room and it looks like a great resource. Something I wouldn't have seen in the back ground.

"Internet Marketing" is a very broad term... before you start investing serious time and money into creating websites and generating traffic you should research all of the different paths that you can take. Choose the one that best fits your skill set and that can make you the most money. Choose the one that will allow you to live whatever lifestyle that you are wanting to live.

If you are getting started with no background in webdesign and no experience with any type of marketing I recommend starting a drop ship eCommerce website. You can get started with a small investment and build a website that generates a full time income within a few months by duplicating what many successful store owners are already doing.

Best of luck no matter what path you choose. If you are smart and if you stick to it there is not doubt that you will find success.

Drop shipping is something that I have scratched over and I do really like the idea of generating several streams of income.

What platform would you recommend for an eCommerce website? Are there eCommerce theme's that could be setup for WordPress?

I have seen a number of monthly paid sites for eCommerce but I've never tried any of them.

Figure out what you want to do, research it, then take action.

    ;D

    Research first.

    Think of going into battle.

Do you want to rush in, or do you want to survey the land first?

    Think "art of war".

Welcome to the forum. Enter into a small niche and kick butt. Don't go into niches where you cant earn a full time backend income from.

I would definitely recommend Shopify for an eCommerce platform. There is a monthly fee but it is more then worth it. They offer a free 30 day trial so you can sort of play around with it and see how you like it. They have FREE themes that you can install with one click and you can build a highly converting store within a few hours with their software..

There are also free and paid WordPress eCommerce themes that I have used but I wouldn't recommend them if you're planning on doing a lot of business. They are not as secure and in my opinion not as professional. Your future customers will be able to pick up on that and it will cost you sales.

One of the biggest newbie pitfalls I can think of avoiding is to not fall into the WSO addict trap. There are definitely some good products in there, ones that may help you with whatever direction you decide to take, but keep your focus. Matter of fact, write those words down (Keep Your Focus!) and set it next to your computer in case you find yourself in that section of the forum one day.
And while you are at it, write down your goals. Maybe a realistic short term goal and long term

Thank you! - Goals is something that I'm trying to currently work on at the moment.

I always write a daily task list every day in the morning, but I do need to focus on my short, mid and long term goals.
